Wah pedal gives me a volume boost?

    Howdee,

I recently put a dunlop cry baby (gcb-95) in my chain, and it seems to boost the volume when I turn it on...

I tried it in different places in the chain, and it seems to make no difference.

It's more noticeable as I'm going through a distortion pedal into the wah, into a loop pedal. I'm using a semi acoustic as well.

    I've tried wah>distortion / distortion>wah..

Would a compressor solve this problem?

I'm using a 9v battery with the wah as well, maybe if I put it in a daisy chain/adaptor it might make a difference, but I don't see how....?

I thought there might be a trim pot to set the level but I did a search and apparently not. Oh well... I had a similar issue with my old Morley and just opened it up and set the level. Took a bit of tweakin' but it's all good in the hood now. :pac:

OT but just spotted some cool little mod guides, like this one

I have the same pedal and have never noticed this although I rarely use it so am curious now. Might check it later. I'm sure you could add a trim pot if you are handy wit a soldering iron.

The normal place for a wah is first in the chain , it will affect volume/tone big time if you put it after your od/distortion.

I've the GCP-95 Wah too, but it doesn't boost the volume, or at least it didn't before I got at it!! :D
Obviously you'll get more treble cut but no increase in volume.
Did you buy the pedal or second hand? Could it have been modded?
What are the other pedals in the chain?
    How is eveything powered?

yeah, i got it second hand. I'm not good really with mods, but i do know someone who could do it.

I tried it first in the chain as well, and it seems to boost the volume slightly as well.

I'm using a boss blues driver and a boss rc 20, the rc 20 is powered by an adaptor, the wah and distortion pedal by 9v batteries....

I guess I'll have to makea call... :)
