Have you ever stolen anything from a pub/nightclub?

Just in from a club, spent the night completley sober and it was a total eye-opener. I saw someone trying to make off with a giant mirror - He spent a good 10 mins ripping the thing off the wall, in full view of the bar staff. On his way out with the mirror tucked under his arm and under a hoodie, he was confronted by a bouncer; wherein he dropped the mirror and hoodie and did a runner, off into the night. It got me thinking. Has anyone ever attempted or seen someone attempt a daring heist from inside a pub or club?

No, but I've donated lots of jackets, wallets, money and bank cards.

I stole some fella's girlfriend almost 3 years ago. Still have her.

I leaned over the counter in pubs a few itmes after hours and poured meself and a few other people around a cupla pints. I only got them pints to buy their silence.

It's the same as lifting something from anywhere else, just that the people that do are drunk. You'd probably see the same people giving out socks that they saw some junkie robbing something from a shop in broad daylight to feed their habit and then go off and nick something for a "bit of craic" when they've a few scoopies on them.

    Beer mats.

    Pubs get them free though.

People take more risks when drunk, and people that wouldn't normally break the law try and rob something stupid, like that mirror, just because it seems funny when they're langared.

I can't remember what it was called. but before it was Citibar (Dame St, Dublin) i was langered and fell out the door of the men's jacks. Thats where they kept their jonny machine. I fell into it and it came off the wall and all the way down the stairs.

They accused me of trying to rob it. I was too busy laughing my head off at the time to deny it!

    I just done a runner

Remember being in some club, in the smoking area there was a door that lead to behind the bar. Reached through the door and came out with a bottle of vodka.

Cue one of the lads going to the bar for a few cokes/red bulls with ice.:D

Use to rob the giant spools of bog roll from our local, we would throw them out the window into the car park on the way out and collect them after. they would last weeks compared to ordinary rolls. The management found out and closed the gap in the window,

Once got caught swiping a giant garden umbrella from a local and told to return it,

A couple of shot glasses, and bottles of mixer from behind the bar. Martini glasses are the real holy grail though, and getting them home intact!

A mate of mine 'kidnapped' a stuffed bird from the Kestrel at Walkinstown roundabout in the early 90s. The pub used to have a number of glass cases with stuffed birds in them. He managed to liberate one of these from a case, and brought it home. He then took photos in a passport photo booth of him, with a stocking over his head, the bird, and a card saying "give us the money or the bird gets it" or something similar. He then posted the pics to the pub. I think he still has it actually.

Personally, i did take a big Carslberg umbrella from an outside table from a local on my way home one night (it was lashing rain) and had it in the flat for a few weeks before i brought it back. Other than that, glasses, the big branded ashtrays (Rothmans, B&H, etc), the usual stuff

After being charged €6.20 for a pint of Guinness in a well known Temple Bar watering hole (not my choice to go there), my girlfriend and I decided to steal a large potted plant. The mission was a success.

I don't remember this but apparently a couple of years back I attempted to steal the fairy-lights off a Christmas tree in Ri-Ra.

I was hammered and waiting for mates who were queuing up for their jackets and started stuffing the lights from the nearby Christmas tree into my coat pocket. Started walking out towards the door when I got a tap on the shoulder, turned around and there's a bouncer there just looking at me and a trail of glowing lights going from my pockets to the wall where they're still plugged in.

He didn't believe me when I said I came in with them either apparently.

I used to have an extensive beermat collection. And I once "borrowed" an Erdinger glass much to my excitement. However that was quickly dashed when I got home and it didnt fit in the press. :(

Anyone who takes whiskey, brandy or (proper) wine glasses from a pub is a scumbag imo.
