    Why?
If it gives you the option of tuning out posters that annoy you why not take advantage of it.:pac:

What you don't seem to understand is that there are plenty of observers of these forums, observers who have no interesting in posting and others who are looking for headlines for trashy tabloids etc etc. I'm not one for ignoring idiotic posts. The point is that Boards is not a closed forum, were're on the interweb for gods sake!

I know i've made ridiculous comments online before, but I'd never mock anybody who died.

    So what's ridiculous?

I didn't bother reading the Air France thread. It's AH and a thread about it is hardly that important right now. Think the family have other things to be worried about at the minute.

    And yet AHs still exists.
You are putting the emphasis on *serious when AHs is far from a serious forum.

You are talking to the scrapings from the bottom of the barrel, After Hours is a place where they can unleash.:)

I disagree with the scrapings from the bottom of the barrel comment.

Yes posters like to blow off steam here but I have read many threads in AH where posters genuinely needed help on something and posters were more than happy to help out.

There are a number of reasons why people have a difference of opinion regarding humour in disasters or crisis situations, it's called "emotional blending". For the most part the humour or attempts at humour was not malicious, it's a psychological process that helps an individual distance themselves from the situation and it helps the brain cope with stress.

OK maybe one or two posters crossed the line but it certainly was not the majority of posters on AH.

There's more than me that disagrees with the posting style of some posters. The ignore button means jack sh1te. The fact that someone went to the bother of making such a post says something in itself.

Yep, but there seems to far more not agreeing with you.

Wait, I'm confused. Are you trying to change AH or trying to change the posters? AH doesn't need any wannabe heroes trying to save the world one person at a time.

No sir, post with a bit of restraint on issues of a sensitive nature and are relivant to a wider audience. It's not too much too ask.

After the shameful posts on the Air France thread, I think there's an argument for keeping threads like that off After Hours. I hate to use the word serious per se, as I believe After Hours should be a place where matters of the day should be discussed in a less serious way. But posters should practice some restraint and cop on. I mean some of the posts were just shameful. It seems to me no matter the discussion, some muppets will always try to take things down a level in order to create hatred and bad feeling. I'm all for people expressing an opinion and all that goes along with same, but there's a fine line. I just wish some people would cop the fcuk on.

There is no argument for keeping 'threads like that' off After Hours because there are specific forums provided for serious conversations & thoughts to be held.
Every forum has a purpose. After Hours, & it's followers, are more than capable of having a serious discussion. But they are also capable of being light hearted & funny. It might not be to your taste but if we all had the same opinion on everything this world would be a very dull place.
If you don't like it then go to another forum that caters to your needs. Leave AH alone, if it isn't broken then you don't need to fix it.
