I know you all are sick of hearing about the recession, and I dont blame you,but has anyone noticed how horrible it is in work at the moment, like recently my job was uncertain, but semi good news came that we were taking a pay cut,and a reduction in hours, not too bad at least I have a job I thought, but since then work has become unbearable, the tasks we are being given are so tedious, pointless and hard, and the targets we are expected to achieve are impossible to do,theres no more buzz about the place,it is so painfully boring and annoying, that I actually sit up all night dreading going to work, and Im sick of everyone telling me least you have a job,its so annoying,my mate are sitting at home on the dole living the life of reilly, sleeping in till 12,watching telly and playing playstation all day, going for pints at night, but all the while complaining about not having a job,and envying me for having one,Well tell you what I rather be on the dole,I wouldnt mind sitting around during nothing, lots of spare time on my hands, they can have my job

Sounds excatally like the job I just lost today, they cut the hours and pay two months ago and on Monday I came in and was told that Wednesday would be the last day for me and 19 others.
I still hate people who say your lucky to have a job as some employers are using this against the staff.

If this is what he wants, then what's stopping him actually doing it?

Love my job, for me nothing has changed (for now anyway). I do feel lucky. I actually smile going into work and smile coming out of it.

I really pity people who hate the thought of going into work. I could never hack that. At least you do it, fair play for not giving up.

Well there's also the fact if he quits he'll be waiting a long long time for the dole to come through...

Absolutely, some employers are just taking the piss at the moment. I work in an accountants office and we've a few mechanics on our books who are absolutely booming at the moment, much better than this time last year. However, they're still cutting wages and hours, just because it's what everyone else is doing.

Well then he'll just have to grin and bear it :D

Ah no, I do see where he's coming from though. It's like a sin if you complain about your job at the moment.

Fair play to you for stating the awful truth: work is sheeeeit, unless you're one of the tiny minority that are lucky enough to be doing what they like. People don't like hearing the truth and get defensive, and of course the 'at least you have a job' stuff follows.

Not true, not true, a lot of people get great satisfaction from their job, its way more than a tiny minority IMO.

Having said that if your job is depressing you and you hate it that much get the fcuk outta there.
No job or no amount of money is worth your sanity.

I really hope there are but I'm very cynical. My solution is to stick it out day by day, bottling everything up and then after about twenty years, bring a rifle in and open fire on everyone. That's the American way.
