Gibson SG Special?

Is their a big difference between a sg special and a standard sg?

I played a sg special and was amazing at the poor quality of this guitar, i have a guitar that i bought for about 300 euro, that sounded, played and felt better made then this sg and wat am wondering is, is the standard model a big step up or not cause i have been dreaming for a gibson sg for quite a while now and as soon as i get the money i will buy one once i find the right one.

I have both a gibson les paul traditional and an SG Standard in HC i can safely say that bar slightly loosely fitted pickup the SG Standard is a far better guitar than a special. Gibson man for life

Buying a Gibson can be a bit of a crapshoot sometimes. I played a Faded SG Special that was absolutely incredible and a Les Paul Standard that had some of the worst fretwork I've ever seen.

If you could find an SG Special and an SG Standard that had both been setup to perfection I doubt there would be anything between them bar the obvious cosmetic differences.

When talking about new Gibson judge each instrument on its own merits. They still make some great ones in all price categories, but it is a matter of getting lucky.
