just looking on the australia forum the cost of flight tickets, and then hearing my cousin who moved to canada a few years ago say how he won't be able to come back to ireland for a few years, and i'm thinking why do people move so far away if they dont really want to? my cousin and sister live in london and paris respectively and they can like come how pretty regulary, i mean if you move to australia or something your kinda stuck there.

    whats your opinion.

I know a lot of people who would gladly move as far away from Ireland as is possible.

    Not everyone likes the place..

The furthest you can get away from ireland on this earth is a tiny island a few hundred miles to the right of new zealand

Yep, obviously i'm not going to name names, then again, it's freely available information because of his High Court case.

WTF makes you think people "don't really want to" move far away? Christ, out of Canada and Ireland, I know where I'd rather live. I don't even know why I ever came back to Ireland, and I'm planning another exodus as we speak(/type).

Because Britain is the only nearby English speaking place and who wants to move there when they dont have to?

cos there's way better places to live than ireland.

Because they have a job and don't have at home; or a better job than they would have at home.

Because they an excuse not to have to come home.

    The weather.

They have a family there, possible married to someone from there.

There are many reasons ask your cousin.

I don't know. It doesn't make sense to me why someone would move to a place they don't like.
Perhaps you should ask them? Or in the moving to Australia/Canada forum?

but everyone wants to be close to family, i'd never move to a place where I had to spend over €2,000 on tickets to get home, at least if ya live in london or paris you can get a ryanair flight easily.

my cousin in canada hated leaving when he was a back for a while at christmas. if he lived closer he could see his friend and family more regulary.

Nothing to do with being Irish.
    Human nature.
A certain proportion of us will have a hunger to wander. Others wont and will stay put til they die.

Well, that assumption is your first mistake.

Nonsense, one of my favourite things about moving abroad was being 6,000 miles away from my family.

Hey, you're welcome to stay in Ireland. Actually, do. Some of us legged it to get away from the Orish and begrudgery.

Fly to the right, 10,500 miles. Fly to the left, 10,300 miles. Couldn't really get further away.
