U-value of an external door... if memory serves you take it as 1.8 if you don't know otherwise - is this correct?

I seem to remember from my course that the exposed perimeter of the ground floor slab was significant yet there is no field in DEAP for this, am I overlooking something?

And finally... (related to the last question I'm guessing) having done one of the examples from my course, the heat loss through the floor seems disproportionately high when I put in the u-value I calculated using u-valuate (.3). U-valuate doesn't factor in the thermal mass or conductivity of the ground beneath the slab and this doesn't seem right. Once again, am I overlooking something or does DEAP factor this in?

I am assuming you are referring to a domestic Dwelling! If not, you can disregard my reply!

My understanding is that the u-value of a door is set as standard at 3 by DEAP. Whether this is a fair default or not has been discussed before but generally the u value of door will not have much impact on a rating. In the DEAP Manual, they do acknowledge that it may effect the rating on a very small apartment.

I think the "ground floor slab" you refer to is irrelevant as you would be already inputting it under the "Floors" Section of Building elements.

Not entirely sure what you mean in the last part of your question. Again, DEAP uses defaults on existing domestic dwellings for floor heat loss. The u value assigned varies according to the exposed perimeter.
