can't connect to my router

Hi. I'm trying to set up a wireless network for someone.
He purchased an Edimax BR 6204G wireless router.
All was going well, I thought that I'd completed the setup through the setup page 192.168.2.1 but found that I could only get local access when I went to wireless.
So I threw in the disk that came with it. It brought up a setup wizard, so I, foolishly as it turns out, thought 'what harm can it do and ran through it again.
Now it's giving me a login failure if I try to use the wizard on the disk and I can't get the setup page to load (through browser) if I remove the disk (or with the disk in for that matter)

So, in essence, I'm locked out of my own router.

    HELP!

Probably easiest just to reset to factory settings and start again . Hold in the reset button at the back for over 4 seconds .

OK, got it sorted and configured ... to an extent.

Whereas, originally, I set it up but neither the wired internet nor the wireless worked through the router, now I can get wired but not wireless.
In fact, windows (vista) doesn't even detect the network.
Yes, the wireless switch is on.

    Any suggestions.

Right, upon further investigation, I can connect with my notebook, but not his.
So the problem obviously lies within his machine.

Can someone give me a run through of the things I need to look at on his notebook to allow it to a) detect and b) connect to the wireless router?

    Thanks.
