Quick Laser card question

    Hi all,

    i recently asked my bank to re-issue my laser card as the chip had become damaged. the new card is exactly the same as the old apart from a 3 digit code on the back beside the signature panel. i'm presuming this is some sort of security code.

    what i'm wondering is does this code allow me to purchase goods from online retailers that wouldn't have originally accepted my old card?? if not then could someone enlighten me as to the purpose of this code

    The new card should have a different number on it on the front too.

    And no, the security code doesn't enable it to be used online. Some online retailers already accept Laser, and it doesn't usually matter if you have this code or not.

    The card number on the front is the same as before, as is the issue number. It's practically a carbon copy apart from the new expiry date and aforementioned 'security' code

    My card was changed too recently.
    Front code remained the same but dates and CVV code changed - although you don't enter a CVV code with a Laser card.
