Wondering if many follow him blindly at weekends?

i know over the last month he has been phenominal ..+56% or something..
he tips 2 today..bella mana mou at punchestown, 4-1 and lord of the reins at 8-1 in 5.45 in goodwood.

any one getting on..think i will!

Follow your own thoughts mate. If you have to depend on someone else for betting info I don't advise betting. Segal isn't the worst tipster out there he is very very price orientated, Im surprised he didn't put up Sea the Stars he was sweet on it all week on the racing post site.

are his tips on the website different to those in the paper?
and also does he just tip at weekends and big meetings?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Famous45

There was a video on the racingpost site all week with him and James Willoughby talking about the Guineas and Derby betting and he was raving about Sea the Stars, thought in turn he would put it up as pricewise this weekend.

Yep I think it's weekend and major meetings but I could be wrong, I ain't bought a racing post in a number of years so don't know how he works it these days, he used to also put a horse or 2 up in the racingpost weekender that comes out on weds or thursday.

As far as I know he doesnt specifically put tips up on the site, most likely the same as in your paper.

Well that tip (which lost since but went into favouritism due him almost) was on the website, 2 tips go up at 12oclock..
i agree that you are best betting on things you know most about, there is enough media out there that someone will have tipped the winner in some paper or website.. while i know a decent bit about horse racin and will bet on it sometimes and i should prob stick to hurling football and golf.

about segal it was just that he was in such form of late with the tips that i'd seen. all the same if the one in goodwood wins this evening ill be kicking myself

He'd already tipped it at 25/1 in his preview about 3 weeks, so all that appeared in todays RP was 'Already Advised Sea The Stars 25/1'.
So whilst it wasn't tipped as such in todays Post, it sort of was, if that makes sense !!!

My problem with PriceWise (and a few other tipsters) is that their overall profit is a bit fictional. You see this 'Up 128 points over the last 50 bets' malarkey, but a lot of it is 3pts as 16/1 when in fact 16/1 was no longer available by the time the paper hit the shops (or if it was available it was only available for a fiver).

In fairness to Segal as a tipster then you could do a hell of a lot worse, however like previous posters have mentioned, getting on at the prices as advertised is virtually impossible(However did get on in a Totesport shop whilst over in the UK on hols last summer to the grand tune of 20 quid - fancied myself the horse that was tipped up by him)...

Watch out for the price collapses in July and August on any of the Pricewise horses, he is usually on fire around this time.

    Todays selections are

    Russian Epic 5.5/1 Windsor 4.55
    Trip Switch 12/1 Warwick 3.40

    I've backed both 0.5 pt e/w

I've decided to follow pricewise for a few weeks at 0.5pt e/w and see how it pans out.

****ing sick, didnt get to see the race but I had a large enough bet on Staying On. Beaten by a short head :(

I saw the race, Staying On led from Expresso Star, Doctor Fremantle closed wide then went ahead, Staying On rallied at the death and it was litteraly a nose that seperated the two.

Cossack Prince 5/1 Goodwood 3.35 win

Backed Cossack Prince so it wasn't all bad. No Access to racing sites in work here, and couldnt pick up an RP this morning so if anyone could post the PriceWise selections it would be nice.

Will do, I'm following the RP elections on this thread to see how good they are over a period of time.

    Early selection is a no-brainer I'm afraid

    Drumbeat @evens Chester 2.15

    Ocean Blaze 8/1 Lingfield 3.10

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 561 ✭✭✭minty16

Hmmm, bummer. I'll be taking that on for sure anyway. Not sure with what yet though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,617 ✭✭✭jacool

that Drumbeat is the backbone of all the special prices in Ladbrokes today. its linked in horse trebles and in bets with soccer teams as well, so they'll be quids in if it loses, and nervous if it wins. haven't seen form for the race though.

Ocean Blaze was second at 8/1.

    Drumbeat @evens Chester 2.15 Unplaced!

    Ocean Blaze 8/1 Lingfield 3.10 2nd

Just to keep things tidy :) Anyone who lost money on Drumbeat and Frozen Fire in the 2.15 might like to contribute to this thread.

Just as an aside, I presume its pricewise extra you're taking them off Mike? If so, they aren't all Tom Segal's. To my mind he only does the weekend ones and for the big meetings and races. There are about 3/4 of them that do the pricewise extra, Mel Collier being one that springs to mind.

That true I'm doing them all, first 4 days of my experiment - 2 wins and 2 places.

    Tyrannosaurus Rex 6/1 1.50 Nottingham

    Judgethemoment 8/1 3.25 Ascot

It would be great if there were some stats you could get access to on the site..i.e level stakes profits for weekends, jumps vs. flats, by tipster..
also, that johnny ward lad on the sunday indo, he has a decent profit to for (10e=1pt), around 300 up i think with another 130 running...but some of his stuff i would never back when i see it, they just seem ridiculous

Fupping hell! I gotta start doing doubles as well as singles. That would have been a nice little earner.

10 selections since I started following Pricewise - 4 wins, 2 places 4 misses is pretty good and should be 5 wins (Drumbeat).
