Ok, so this has been bugging me recently when playing my Les Paul Junior with any gain.
I've been thinking about some options and I finally settled on one.

I put an EMG 81 in my LP Jr. The tone isn't as good as the P90 but now there's no hum.

    ONLY KIDDING!! :D
No bloody way I'd do that.

I finally got my ISP Decimator a couple of days ago and I'm happy to say that it sorts out the humming problem entirely while keeping that lovely P90 tone. If I get a chance over the weekend I'll record some clips to show the noise and how it sounds now. Don't expect anything fancy, I'm more of a bassist than guitarist. :)

The ISP is just a noise gate, it shouldn't have any effect once you're playing. You need to rock harder :pac:

I had the same problem with an lp special with p 90s It hummed constantly but i shielded it fully & it did make a big difference & is worth doing but eventually it got the better of me & i got rid of it

    I followed this guide http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/shielding/tele.php

I bought mine from Japan used and whoever had it before put a nice set of Gotoh locking mini's on it.

    You can see it here.
