    Hi guys

I don't get cramps, or headaches, or any physical discomfort but my time of the month turns me into a hormonal monster! For one week out of every month I pretty much hate the world, am miserable company, constantly on the verge of tears and actually feel depressed.
I'm 24 and it hasn't always been this bad...always a bit moody but now it's like the lows are getting worse and I don't know how to handle them.

Is there anything I can do?

    Evening primrose oil can help.
    Also, exercising regularly is good.

As Beruthiel said, Evening Primose or Starflower Oil, and exercise.

Are you on the pill? If you are, maybe you should consider another type. If not, then going on the pill may help. I know that being on the pill has vastly reduced the physical and hormonal symptoms for me.

Try the implanon (bar in your arm) I didn't get any period or moods - nothing, but then again everyone is differant. Worth a try tho!

I'd go to see your Doc and talk to them... or else a good homeopath.

I'm the same. Around the time my breasts start to feel tender, mid month...I start changing into a totally different person. The slightest thing gets on my nerves, especially everything my poor oh does, I have these negative thoughts in my head all the time..sometimes I just feel like I'm holding in a torrent of tears I feel so low. I find taking herbal Kalm tablets really do help the irritable feelings..but I need to take them regularly. Also I've noticed I feel better when I eat something...low blood sugar seems to leave me really contrary.

    Hi OP,

Right now i am in bed dying with my period pains, im on heavy pain killers for them because i want to come off the pill to have a baby,

Oh the joys of hormones! MONES!

Anyway, i feel my pmt has reduced a lot because i am living a much less stressful life than i used to, looking at how fast paced your life is is a good idea because if you learn to relax more it eases the tension in the body all round,

I am always worse the more stressed i am,

None of the homeopath stuff ever really worked for me, I also felt more uncomfortable on the pill emotionally.

I just feel the happier i can make myself the better i respond to life in general.

If you are on the pill I highly suggest you concider changing the one you are on. I was on a particular pill (yasmin) for about a year and would turn into a emotional, suicidal mess once a month. It was extremely draining and I went, in tears, to my doctor asking her if I could be switched to something else. I never looked back. I still got emotional on the new pill but nothing to the extreme of what I was like on yasmin.

I'm now on no artificial hormones and will get emotional but it's manageable.

    A.

    Thanks for the advice guys.

I'm not on the pill at the mo so it can't be that. I came off Dianette about a year ago because it basically amplified my moodiness x 10 and gave me major break outs, which sucked coz I went on it partly to clear up my skin! I've had no need to start taking another pill since (sex life not exactly rockin' at the moment!) but maybe should reconsider.

Someone mentioned exercise...I generally run a lot but haven't been very active for the last month or two so that could be partly to blame. I have quite a hectic, stressful job too so I'm sure that's not helping.

Gonna invest in some Evening Primrose Oil and get my running shoes back on again and see if anything changes!
