I moved up to the next plan today.

    3 minute run
    3 minute walk
    10x 2 min run, 1 min walk
    4 minute cooldown walk

Today I was having a good day, so I challenged myself a little and didn't quite stick to the plan,
this is what I did instead...

I ran non stop for 8 & a half minutes (well chuffed with that!!)
    3 minute walk
    7x 2 minute runs, 1 minute walk.
    3 min cool down walk

Did a total of 7 KM in 50 minutes

    Howaye Moondancer,

Good on you with the training missus! You're fitter than you think you are. I would have been dead if I'd run for 8 minutes in the second phase. To answer the question you put on the blog, running for 10 minutes the first time was rough but now it's not too bad but last week I started 20 mins and that was rotten, especially as it was raining and I was going uphill for part of it. I hope the weather's nice for us on saturday!!
I had to drag myself out this evening and even then I just went to the gym and did some core stuff and a bit of running. Good luck with training the rest of the week.

    See you saturday

    Hiya Pocabella!!!
Do you know what I seriously think it's since I quit smoking that I could even run that far! I wasn't even puffed out after it today, but my legs were killing me from the weights session in the gym a few days before.
You're doing really well, I've a lot to catch up!!
Fingers crossed for nice weather Saturday!
    See you then :D

Went out for a group run with the fellow boards runners.

We did the top part of the mountain again today.
It went so much better then the last time I went there.
We jogged a mile down the road, I just walked for about 10 seconds once. Fitness really is improving! :D
Walked most of the mountain climb, managed to jog a little bit during the flat bits.
Ran around the Cairn & down the whole decent to the car park.

Thanks to Hail 2 da chimp & T runner for the motivation to get me through the tough parts!
Didn't need a piggy back either!!

I've decided to enter a 3K race this week, this will be my 1st ever race!
So I just decided to run the course instead of sticking to my training plan.
I wanted to run as much of it as I could without stopping and I didn't do too bad! only had to walk for 5-10 seconds 3 times :D
We ran approx 4 miles in 40 mins and at the end I threw in a massive hill again, just for the craic :D

Tried to run the course again for the race,
Took the dog this time.... and it shall be the last time!
Got about a mile done today, almost killed myself tripping over the dog with her running in front of me! She enjoyed it though, she fell asleep as soon as I got her home!

I say this all the time about my mutt, but somehow the whining and "take me for a walk" eyes always seem to win out!

Nice to have a pacemaker though!

I should take her on the warriors run with me, she'd have no problem dragging me up the mountain!! haha

Ran the course for the race today. (twice)

Ran to the course - half a mile
Ran a mile and 1/4 only walked once for 20 seconds in the last 1/4 mile
    Took about 30 second rest
Ran another mile and 1/4 walked once for 20 seconds in the last 1/4 mile also.
    Walked for 1 minute
    Ran the half mile home!

Total of 3.5 miles today in 25 minutes

Well, got my first race finished! Don't know the time yet, they're emailing everyone in a couple of days. I would say about 15-20 mins for the 3km (I hope!)
It was p*ssing rain, got soaked & cross country too, so really mucky!
I was hoping to run the whole thing, but was forced to walk about 3 times as my dinner was trying to make an exit!
Felt great with the run apart from the food lying in my belly, bit dissapointed with the walking thing, but it was necessary, I think I could have ran the whole thing.
This is 5 days of running in 6 days! Think I need a day off & a big night out :D

Well done for finishing your first race, I hope the muck and rain did not put you off.

Are you planning to do the 8K on Sunday or will you not have recovered from your big night out?

Bit late now, but it was a womens 8K at Sligo IT. Good turn out of walkers, runners & joggers despite the rain.

No worries, couldn't go anyway, had forgotten about a family function so had to go to that.
Do you know when the next race is? It was fun at the 3k, I might try a 5k next!

OMG! That would def put you off the fags!! I only realised how much damage they were causing to my lungs since I've started running.

I find a good 5 minutes to stretch overall is enough for me, but others need a bit longer. Holding each stretch for at least 15 seconds. I repeat it a few times.

Would you notice a difference in what? Not sure if I know what you mean?

I can't drink a whole lot in the half hour before I exercise because I'll get a stitch, and you're better off not eating too much junk food, eat plenty of rice & pasta instead :D
