Have a tiny terror that I use for recording and I am using an old Torque 1x10 generic cab.

Just wondering if I went the extra yard and bought the Orange cab would it make a noticeable difference????

If it were me i'd probably buy a new speaker for the current cab if you weren't that impressed with it. I've bought 2 ted weber speakers, one 6" and one 12" and both are superb. And they'd cost you about 50 on ebay. Worth checking out.

Apart from the speaker, a cab is just wood and screws and tolex, right?

i asked the same type of question in here a while ago and someone pointed me to tubetown.they are a german company that will make any type of cabinet for you and put any type of speaker into it,they have a huge range of tolex covering and grill cloth.i bought a 1*12 cabinet with marshall black tolex and marshall grill cloth and they put a celesion alnico blue in for good measure.there is a picture in here of it.

I suppose so, but apparently good grade plywood is the way to go rather than MDF, which is what some of the lower priced cabs are made from. A good sized cab is always a plus too, rather than something 5mm wider than the speaker!
The speaker is definitely going to make the most difference, but a good speaker in a cardboard box wouldn't sound too hot.
Check out Mongotone cabs too, Quattroste has a savage 2x10 hardwood cab from them.
