guitar questions (newbie)

An electro acoustic is an acoustic guitar like the one below. However it has a pickup and preamp inside the instrument that will allow you to amplify the acoustic sound by plugging it into an amplifier (and turning it on obviously).




A semi-acoustic is an electric guitar, but not a solid body. Its a semi-hollow body guitar, so the inside of the guitar is carved out and a cap is put on top. These usually have electric guitar pickups. Usually these have "f" holes so they will be a little louder (not much though). Some might not have any "f" holes. An example of a semi-acoustic is a Gibson ES-335.




You can start on whatever type of guitar you want. But I would say, if you want to play electric primarily then get an electric first... if you want to play acoustic primarily then get an acoustic guitar first.

No problem. The Sheraton II is pretty similar in construction to the 335, I haven't played a Sheraton II though. I think the user here "Alan Rouge" has one of them.
