    lifted from Twitter
Just tasted Collin's espresso. Delicious, juicy, cocoa finish. Here's a pic of Raul/Guat tasting Collin's coffee. http://twitpic.com/3m1xa 14 mins ago

Well done Colin, but I'm guessing it's a win for the USA this year - that guy was fast, silly calm, and seemingly flawless.

+1 and great choice of tunes Colin!

    I was sure there'd be Pogues ;)

It's easy to be cynical about these things, but I'm sure a home-town, articulate, english-speaking winner who carries bags of likeable personality is a bankable choice for the competition body and sponsors. There's a theme emerging in the winning personality types.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Slaphead07

It's true. The coffee industry want to be associated with a particular personality type. That's ok.

I'd have absolutely zero sour grapes about the results. I wouldn't associate any politics with the results.

Colin did fantastically well, and if you asked us when we started this project whether we would be happy finishing just behind Gwilym, Sammy Piccolo and Mike Philips, we would have probably laughed our asses off.

I'd also like to point out, that Colin and I met through a group buy here on boards, I believe it was the second Intelli one. So I'm sure it wouldn't be too tenuous to suggest that this forum played its part.

Thanks for all the support guys, means a lot to us out here.

    Over and out, for now...

    David

Caught the result last night, congratulations Colin. Imagine putting that on your CV! Super stuff. There's a great deal of support for you here, and fair play to RE*AC*TOR too.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys soon,

Did anyone notice that when they were calling the finalists up before announcing the placings they played "God Save the Queen" when Gwilym was called......................I think that was a bit of a mix up lol, it gave away the fact that he was going win!!

Well done Colin, its a great achievement.

Hope the group enjoys the rest of their stay in Atlanta :D

I don't think any shenanigans were at play, but I can see a definite bias towards a particular kind of winner (which Colin might well have fitted).

Thanks for an exciting distraction from work over the weekend - if nothing else you lads provided great cheap (to me) entertainment. The investment in the Aurelia paid off in spades ;)

I'm selling the notion to a bunch of graphic designers that Colin's espresso mojo is highly sharpened now, so they need to get down to Coffee Angel pronto.

When does the prep for London '10 begin then?

Bit of a forum stalker and just wanted to offer hearty congratulations, Colin! As someone above said, what an accolade to have for your CV!

I'm dying to try your coffee now, haha!

    Congrats on a great result.

Thanks for that. When the lads said they were going to talk to Steve from hasbean about the WBC I suggested they consider this Machacamarca, it was one of my favourite coffees from last year, they ended up running with it.

I'm sure Steve shifted a lot of it on the back of Colin's performance. I've an unopened bag of last year's green, and bought a bag of this year's green and a couple bags of roasted on Friday. Still hasn't showed up tho - expected it yesterday :(

Will have to see if there's any noticable difference between the cup winning crop and this year's.

Oh and welcome back the conquering heros! That jet lag's a bitch eh?

I'm also waiting on a delivery of Machacamarca, both roasted and green,
true to form I ran amok and ended up ordering a fair few kilos of other
beans so UPS was my only option for delivery.
