Humbucker volume VS singlecoil volume

    hey all
i play a les paul, over the summer i hope to get a strat. I have played guitars in the past that split humbuckers into singlecoils, when it is on singlecoil there is a volume drop (which makes perfect since).
anyway my question, if im playing a gig with the LP, and then plug the strat into the amp, will there be a volume drop, as it has singlecoils?

    Thanks!

Usually I play with an overdriven amp and I just notice a drop in gain levels as opposed to real volume level.
On proper clean tones there is a volume difference but sometimes a single coil can "cut through the mix" a bit better than a humbucker as they throw out more highs.

Different humbuckers have different output values, the same with single coils. It really does depend on the pickups in each guitar though, generally humbuckers will sound louder than singles. You can get higher output single coils and lower output humbuckers but, of course, this will affect tone.

Alternatively, just get a volume booster pedal and use it to bring the single coil level up to that of the humbuckers.

Its natural that different guitars will have different outputs. Hell, even 2 of the same model from the same year may have different output pickups.

What you can do is to get a clean boost pedal and set up the level so it boosts your strat up to the same volume as the LP. When you're playing the LP onstage have the boost turned off, with the Strat just whack it on and Bob's yer uncle! :)
