I have been working with this fella for a few years. The thing is i really really like him. Im fairly quite and shy around men i like and he too is a shy guy, so nothing has ever happened.

Nothing has ever happened other than a few answers i give him when he asks me questions. They're not even questions regarding work. Whenever we are alone he does start the conversation. I answer him and leave it at that and move on. The reason being is that i heard he is already seeing someone else. So it seems easier to ignore him and move on. Sometimes he would even leave his hand on my arm when talking. And whenever we just pass in the corridor he will always give me a smile. If there are people around he will just ignore me cause there are nosy people that will talk.

Are these signs telling me something? Body language? Or should i just ignore them? I really like him and i would like to just get him out of my mind, so should i just ask him out and get it over and done with and then hopefully moving on with my life.

I have never asked a fella out before but what do i do to get over the awkwardness if he say's no?

Why ask him out if he's not single?

No guy is ever going to be anything but flattered by a girl asking him out.

I wouldn't ask him out directly. Ask him if he is doing anything for the weekend and enquire who he is doing it with. He may have a missus so the whole- hey wanna go for a beer after work approach works best.

Ya thats what i was planning on doing. Just asking him for a few drinks. I dont want to sound crazy by asking "want to go out with me".

Well, to me if you guys have worked together this long - surely it shouldn't matter if people see ye talking to each other?
Also - if he's not single, then there's no point asking him out. Ask what he's up to at the weekend, or you could even come up with a comment along the lines of 'I'm sure your missus is looking forward to spending a nice evening with you' if it's a lovely day out, or something. And see what his response is, if he's single you can say 'oh, i could have sworn someone said you werent single' thus explainging your shyness :)

If he's dating someone and you work with him to boot, is it really a good idea?
