Not sure if this should be in the UTD or Liverpool thread or if it needs its own one.

Setanta reports Fergie ranting about Benitez at press conference about up coming FA Cup semi final.

Is it mind games or is Fergie feeling squeaky bum time as he would say himself?

    what did he say,

you can be sure he wont be accused of cracking up

Breaking News on Sky Sports News, Sam Allardyce hits out at Rafa Benitez's "humiliating gestures" after Liverpool scored their second goal against Blackburn. Don't quit your day job Sam. The "gesture" is at 4:30 in the below clip.

What is Sam complaining about exactly?

    Humiliating gesture, hardly.

All Rafa meant was "that's that game over", which it was.............. Fhact!

Fergie was asked about Everton to which he replied Moyes had done a great job and contrary to Benitez they were a big club, he went on to have a go at Benitez saying his reaction to Liverpool going 2 up at Blackburn was disrespectful. Remember this was a press conference about the FA Cup semi final. Maybe not cracking up but then why brin up Benitez in then?

Did Sam and Alex both say basically the same thing.

You'd nearly think they were mates.

    shocking!

    :p

as i understand it the gesture that Big Sam is refering to is Rafa folding his arms?

It was when Rafa cracks a wry smile and cross his hands in a "not a problem for this team" type gesture. Big Sam interpreted the gesture as directed at him, undermining his team and humiliating them by making a "game over" type gesture. Personally I just saw it as Rafa showing his delight at Torres beating a man obviously more physically imposing than him to a header and putting it in the back of the net.

As in "that's another day's work done so" when there was a fair bit of time left.

I can see where Sam is coming from tbh, it is kind of disrespectful.

It looks like the lads were running to him to celebrate and he was having none of it

He smiled after scoring as well:eek:

An absolute disgrace, big sam is right, 2-0 up against a poor team with a centre back up front on his own is no time to be smiling, clearly backs against the wall time if ever there was

    Outlandish behaviour!

The sooner people start ignoring Fergie's stupid little digs the better for all INCLUDING Man Utd

    Clarification on what Fergie said.

Benitez showed contempt and he was beyond the pale, no other liverpoll manager would have done it to a fellow manager.

This is on Setanta news along with Allyrdyce moaning.

Whether it is or isnt disrespectful, it will be deemed as being so because its Rafa. The media haven't had a stick to beat him with in a while so they'll jump all over this little snippet from Sam.

Fergie could have turned around stuck his fingers up to Sam, laughed in his face whilst telling him his team dont deserve to clean Utd's boots let alone grace the same field as them and he'd be deemed to have acted in a professional manner*

    * the above is a ridiculous overreaction to this, but then again so is calling Rafa disrespectful

You DO know that Ferguson and Sam are good friends, yes?

Hence, Ferguson would never do a gesture like the one Rafa did.

can only imagine a few more managers that happen to be fergies friend will have lots to say about Benitez over the coming weeks, fergie's rattled boys...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,228 ✭✭✭Chardee MacDennis

    and this isnt disrespectful sam?

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has mocked Liverpool rival Rafa Benitez over his war of words with Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson.

Allardyce claimed Benitez had been "foolish" to cross swords with Ferguson.

He added: "You can’t help him whingeing and moaning, can you? He loves it. Rafa is his own man and he’ll continue to manage in his own way — whether that is his stubbornness or his determination, I don’t know. We all have our quirks.

"I don’t give a damn what they say before, during or after a game, but there have been occasions when I have shoved it on the noticeboard for the players and it has made a difference for them.

"It’s great when a manager moans about the way my teams play, but it doesn’t worry me because I would rather have a big manager moaning about me and our tactics after we’ve got a result against them than have them saying what a lovely team we are after they’ve beaten us 3-1.

"You’d be foolish taking on Sir Alex, because he knows every trick in the book."

why would Rafa meet the man who publically slated his managerial abilities on more than one occassion? bemoaning the only reason he was in a job at Liverpool was because he was foreign

I know that, I just meant if it was the other way round! Probably should have said that.

Maybe fergie is trying to take the limelight off the Everton game after Moyes claimed Mike Reilly is biased towards utd.

Must say it is great to watch Allyrdyce whinge on Setanta, it is like a schoolboy looking for sympathy

How dare you accuse ferguson of even considering doing such a thing. He is the most well mannered behaved manager the game had ever seen don't you know.
Nah but really how pathetic from big Sam. Agree the media will jump all over this one now as they have'nt had nowt to talk about since Rafa signed the contract. I'd say big Sam is bitter more than anything. He has never had a good word to say about Rafa even from when he did a few games on the TV when he was out of work.
