This product for reducing hair growth on the body has caused me extreme suffering. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS! I ended up with a severe rash on my legs which, weeks later is still there. I got no satisfaction from the company who supplies it, none at all, even though I sent them photographs of my skin.

It is being advertised now on the TY I noticed this morning, so please beware of it. It is dangerous. The rash may never fully disappear from my legs.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience, any of these so-called miracle creams are complete tripe, but to hear you had such dramatic side effects is awful :(

There's only one medical cream out there for reducing hair growth, but it's only 60% effective, called Vaniqa, the rest are all scams and unproven.

    thanks for the sad face!!

so have you used Vaniqa? even 60% reduction would make me happy, but I'd be kinda afraid to try other stuff after my bad experience.

I used Vaniqa on my face for the 6 months reccomended to see reduction but it was only a tiny bit effective, thankfully my birth control and a little bit of waxing solved most of my problems, Vaniqa was quite awkward to use, had to apply thin layer twice a day, was obvious it was on me, and was quite expensive. I'm still looking for a magic cure :)

thanks for the advice. I will look into that anyway, wouldn't you think that this day and age they'd come up with something that works!!

I was considering buying this but after Emily Sue's post I'm worried. Did the rash come up immediatly? I was thinking of using it on my arm for a few days to check for reaction before I tried it on my face. How long before the rash cleared?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 Emily Sue

the rash has almost gone now, but I have a few small scars remaining from the itching the cream caused (by the way I used the product for my legs not face, there is a different one for the face) it was about 2 months ago when I first used it.

Be careful anyway and do the skin test for a few days, as my rash and itch only started after about 3 days. It may not affect you as it did me.

    A Warning about Bioxet!!!!
I purchased the face cream and after 3 days came out in a terrible rash with my skin burning. That was last week and I still have the rash. My face looks like I got sun burnt. I will NEVER use this product again. I have been waxing my upper and lower lips and never experienced anything like this.

is the face bioxet supposed to be more sensitive?i cant beleive it has caused such a rash:eek: i was really looking forward to trying it out after seeing it advertised in the beauty section of the sunday indo magazine. by they way where did you buy it? abd did the rash come up stright away or was it after a while using it?

where can you get vaniqa or is it on persciption only?

thats terrible i feel so sorry for you girls:(

I first saw Bioxet advertised on TV. I googled it and found the distributor, Ocean Healthcare Ltd. I emailed them to find out where I could purchase it in Kilkenny and they responded with locations. I purchased it from a pharmacy there.

I noticed a reaction as soon as I started using it but, silly me, thought nothing of it. I used it, as directed, for 3 nights and on the third night my upper and lower lips became very sore so I dedided to discontinue use. I have since emailed the Ocean Healthcare but have had no response from them. The cream cost €28 and I am at the loss of that, to add insult to injury. My face looks awful at the moment despite continuously applying Emulsfying Ointment.

I have not come across the other product you mentioned but I will certainly not be using anything new again. I have learned my lesson!!!!!

wow can't believe are so many of us out there with the same reactions! I glad I started this post now.

I have been emailing Ocean Healthcare but with little to no satisfaction, I am truly angry about it all and warn against trying it. I have seen it in a few chemists in Dublin and I always say it to the shop people when I do see it that I strongly warn against it.

    They should pull this product.

When i saw this i was going to try it on my arms but not im seriously put off. I have a holiday coming up and don't want a rash. How long does the rash take to come up? I don't really have sensitive skin so maybe it won't flare up, im not sure wether i should take the chance. Also, if the cream works how long does it take to become effective?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 Emily Sue

my reaction came about 3 days after use and lasted for about a month and a half I'd say.
I stopped using it straight away of course when I noticed the rash but it still took that long for it to clear up.

if u do use it, which I strongly advice against, then do a skin test for about a week first.

Thanks for the advice, im not going to chance it at the moment with the holiday coming up, plus i think €28 is a bit steep to do a skin test only to discover its not for me.

Pity I did not see your warning before I bought it and put myself through this torture.

That's why I joined boards.ie. I wanted to warn others when I saw your warning as I thought it was just me. And the thought of having to wait another 3 weeks before it goes away is really distressing.

I tested it out before I used it -i do have sensitive skin and burn in the sun....fair haired and freckled...I had no itchiness / redness or anything... I just think sometimes you can be unlucky with what reactions you get to products / creams as there can be something in them that you never used before and suddenly you discover an allergy you never knew you had...I am really happy with the product and am recommending it to my friends who do all sorts of beauty treatments from laser / or electrolysis to waxing and a few of them already have said it is beginning to work....
    sorry to hear your troubles...:)

Glad all went well for you Kate. i must have a reaction to one or more of the ingredients in Bioxet. I just could not understand my reaction as I do not have sensitive skin at all and have never experienced such a reaction to any product before.:)

Hi Emily Sue, can I just ask while you were using this cream were you taking any medications, even the pill? or did you recently shave/wax your legs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 Emily Sue

    hi there
No I hadn't been taking anything medication-wise and as per instructions on the pack, I had shaved my legs prior to applying the cream.
    Hope that helps

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,416 ✭✭✭Danniboo

Hmmm? It says that waxing is adviced as oppose to shaving, did you dry shave and perhaps get a shaving rash

    hi
on the pack it said that you could shave but that the results would take longer to be noticed, that was all, it didn't imply that shaving was not advised.
I shave all the time and don't get a rash ever from it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 Emily Sue

    didn't dry shave, never do.

That's a pity :( I was really excited about this product but not so sure now .. sorry you'd such a bad reaction

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 Emily Sue

thanks! if u do try it, do a small area maybe. but to be honest I wouldn't advise it.
It really upset me and took so long for my legs to heal.

I just saw Bioxet advertised on TV, it sounds so impressive as I have been plagued with facial hair for years. After reading your comments I have turned against this until further tests have been conducted on this - like many, im looking for the 'permenant fix'.

I have been using Vaniqa for a couple of years, it has changed my life from 1st application. It dosnt take the hair away but it inhibits its growth which has changed my life :D. You apply it morning and night (8 hrs apart at least) use your own hair removal method. You can only get it on perscription. So worth it and NO side affects (maybe the odd little ingrown hair, but sure you get that with waxing, tweezing, etc...)

    Good luck everyone!

I started Bioxet today, my friend is delighted with the facial version /no
problems . after 2 applications I got a little stinging which disappeared
after a moment or two. hope it works as its so much cheaper than Vaniqa.

It's funny how after searching the worldwide web for BIOXET/ BIODER reactions the only website that came up was this site. And also, BIOXET is sold globally!!! is a bit dodgy

now how much is this stuff? worth a try for a small test...
