So confused about what to do with my life

My problem is that I dont know if I'm ever going to be happy in my life. I am a natural worrier, have been prone to bouts of depression since I was 20 and can never stand by any decisions that I have made. I'm 27 and I look back on the past nine years since I did my leaving cert regretting most of the decisons that I made.I did a degree in business that I hated but felt I should stick with it as didnt want to disappoint my parents, took jobs doing administration work after finishing college I also think a lack of confidence made me want to take jobs that I could shrink into the corner and do as unnoticed as possible. Now in the past 3 months, I find myself unemployed, looking for a job at a loss as to what to do with myself and hate the fact that after years of studying I dont have a career path or even any idea of what direction to take. I see all my group of friends and most of them are fulfilled and satisfied in their careers and moving up the ladder all the time.I feel like i've spent the last few years wasting my time.

Its making me so depressed I cant think straight it's all I think about and its affecting all my relationships with my friends and boyfriend.My parents are worried about what i'm going to do too and it's making me feel worse like i've failed them. With college fees being introduced I dont think returning to college is a possibility. I dont even know what I would do even if I did go back I dont know what im hoping to gain from this thread, advice but mostly would love to hear that there are people out there that have felt the same as me and gotten through it. I try to explain to my family and friends but feel like nobody gets where im coming form. I feel so worthless at the moment like i'm just a burden to everybody.

OP the best I could say right now is that we've all been where you are now at some stage. But your situation is not as bleak as it may seem. Ok, your degree isn't in a field you want to stay in, but you do have a degree, and that's often worth more than having a particular degree in a specific area.

You've also got several years of work experience under your belt. Granted that right now finding the ideal job is not easy, but you're in a much better position than so many other people who don't have the same experience you have to date.

As regards going back to college, well you can go back and re-train, or take up an additional qualification at any stage, so stop pressuring yourself about that now, all you're doing is making yourself feel bad about your situation.

Keep browsing the job classifieds, pour voer monster.ie, irishjobs.ie and any other sites you can find that advertise jobs. Hit the streets, make some calls. Honestly that's the only way something will turn up.

OP ...now is the best time for you to do whatever you want to .... you have a clean canvas ..... nothing holding you back from doing whatever you want !!!

have a look at what you enjoy and like doing and try to move your NEW life in that direction.

Life is a series of paths - no matter what choice we make we can always make another choice to change our life-path.
