Its posts like Bohboys which make me curse my mother for having me in 1986 rather than 1976 :(

Just wondering, but was this place really truly the heaven on earth that Bohboy tells us younguns of? If New York had Studio 51 and Manchester had the Hacienda, was The Asylum Dublins legendary spot? I may have only been a kid at the time, but I still remember my cousin (now in his late 20s) having flyers from the place on his bedroom wall, even vaguely recall him going on about how great it was
    So anyway
    What year did it open?
    What year did it close?
Why was it closed/ever allowed to open? (I assume it was because the government didnt realise what was going on there re drugs until it was too late, I assume they enacted some kind of legislation since?)
Was it an actual nightclub, or just a big shed full of people on yokes
How come there is nowhere like it to be found today unless you go to an abandoned warehouse rave?

And how come they dont hold weekly raves in The Point? Drugs pressure from the cops? Dont particularly understand that thinking- Godskitchen et al there is nobody who isnt on pills, but it still gets a licence. Isnt this as if the government is saying "alright, you can have some event where the whole crowd is off their tits once every 5 months, but no more"

God to have been born in 1976. My youth would have consisted of this madhouse, and I would have been old enough to appreciate the advent of G-Funk rap at this time :( I feel I missed so much[/quote]

Too true above there mate,Im only 23 myself and obviously am well too young to ever have experinced the likes of the Asylum,Sides,Olmypic,Ormond etc,but was talking to Warren K not so long ago and he was amazed how someone as young as myself would have such devotion to the tunes of the Asylum and Sides and so on,I even have tattoo on my wrist of the asylum symbol, the tunes back then were incredible and still are,and the scene that went with them was like heaven by the sounds of it,Im sure there was a shady element there,no doubt, but it cant have been as bad as it is now, with scumbags pumping dodgey coke up their nose, shooting people like its gone out of fashion,it really was something special, and its miserable us young pups couldnt have experienced it,thank god for all the oldskool nights nowadays,I reckon Id be a priest if I didnt have them, lol

Here is the first file of 37 of my copy of the OLYMPIC DVD i got some time back......it is the same contents that is in the one Jonny68 posted but i cut mine into a more easy to watch style film......the 37 files are the files straight from a DVD so there is no quality loss and once you have em all you should then look to burn them with a DVD writng program and make a bootable DVD disk as i said they are in .VOB & .BUP etc format & arranged to play as a DVD....will probably need some direction on how this is done as i have never actually done it myself but im sure someone knows once all the files & folders are intact which they should be when you unpack all 37 files......the DVD is made with a title screen & navigatable menu also & Mr. Springs back to 1993 thrown on it to......the DVD i got originally was just under 3GB & all files in total are 3.7GB.....i will put them up one by one as i have them uploaded & then all together when i have all the links up just in case any are missed.......heres the first of many for anyone that wants it;)

    Howya lads,

Enjoy the thread though I've little or nothing to contribute having had my formative clubbing experiences in Shaft rather than anywhere else.

Speaking of which, picked up a Casper Classics mix here a while back and would love to know what the tune linked below is...can anyone put me out of my misery???

Don't suppose anyone has Strike U Sure Do (Raise The Roof Remix) they can upload? It was the only decent mix to my mind but I can't find it anywhere except crummy YouTube version which can be found here:

Does anybody have a good copy (not a youtube copy) of this classic

    http://www.discogs.com/Peppermint-Lounge-Lemon-Project/release/75145

If someone had all the mix's in a rar or zip file , that would be very much appreciated, if not a good copy of the fishy mix would be brill,

    already have the Grapefruit mix,

or even a torrent of one or both would be good,
Thanks a mill in advance ,

Does anybody remember the System Nightclub off Graftin street,
Only in once or twice, The Sis was over from the States, and she wanted to go clubbing, I brought hur to the System, it was the only club that would suit hur not to mad, if you know what I mean,

It was all right in there , Played Phunky Phantom - get up stand up, one night, and loads of the old classics.

i remember buying doves off a girl I knew from Dolpins Barn flats,

I suppose it doesn't matter what music they play ,as long as your mad out of it,
    some good tunes help.

I remember going into Abrakabra with the Sis after the System , She wanted to eat , cause she doesn't take drugs,
I was out of my face , she knew, and She was alright with it ,
I remember the bouncer looking at me , my eyes were like saucers,
he must of thought I was in a far away place, i probably was,
I only remember cause it was a hot summers night.
the summer was always a good time to go clubin,
cause it was never frezing cold coming out of the clubs,

I remember coming out of sides with the lads in the winter ,
Diamond jumpers and Patagonian jackets on,
    shivering like drowned rats.

Still good night had by all.
