Guitar Polish (to cover up blemishes)

    Hey guys,

    My pickguard on my takamine acoustic died and I had to take it off, i kept getting my hand caught in it. Anyway, I got a new guard but it is a slightly different shape so the parts of the guitar that it doesnt cover (that the original did) are a lighter shade of wood to the rest of the guitar.

    Im looking for some sort of a guitar polish or something with a light tint or stain in it to match up the colour of the whole guitar? Any suggestions?

    Polish won't do this. You'd have to get the top refinished to fix that spot, or at least resprayed in that area.

    ^This. It would be a whole lot easier just to buy a pickgaurd that fits better.

    The difference in shading has been caused by exposure to light, either UV or sunlight. If you just wait, the lighter area will probably darken & blend in naturally. If you get the top refinished, it could affect the sound of the guitar and may not solve the problem completely. Best to adopt a wait & see approach, or , as suggested, buy a larger pickguard.
