connecting to internet opensuse 11

    hi guys very new to linux, i installed opensuse on a machine i had lying around, the install all went fine, but when i plugged in the ethernet to get updates and drivers it failed to connect to internet ? it did recognise it was plugged in, i could see it was aquiring ip address, but that was as far as it went any ideas, thanks in advance

    hi,
    no just the one, i had mint installed and the Ethernet worked, but i couldn't get wireless to work, so i said i'd give suse a try

    If your wireless card is linksys pci you may be in luck
    Install ndiswrapper from CD/DVD (use yast to search for it)
    Download the zipped file from the following link

    http://www.ralinktech.com.tw/data/RT61_Firmware_V1.2.zip

    Unzip them and copy them to the /lib/firmware folder
    reboot the machine
    When you finish rebooting gnome and the network should be found
    (this worked for me in gnome but not kde, strange)
