is it not the case that the food is brought over from poland specifically for polish people and it costs so much to import it, so they dont want everyone buying it? A friend of mine gets his polish friends to get him some of the food as he cant go into the polish shop.

    Yeah...no.

    That makes no sense.

The point of this being?

Are you asking me what her motives might be to lie? Obviously I don't know, but there is no fact in this story, she could be lying, it could have been closing time at the shop and it was a missunderstanding, etc.

The newspaper has no reason to publish a story like this, its reckless journalism, which promotes racism (we already have 2 pages on how racist people can be) to sell newspapers and could also cripple a local shop when they could have done nothing wrong.

People are easily lead by the media and the media have a responsibility to tell the truth. I know this is just a small piece in a crappy newspaper but its occurs all the time on a larger scale.

I have this feeling that if this was a Polish person being kicked out of a shop for being Polish you would laud the article and promote it to show an example of racism that should be stamped out.

So if a black guy claimed he was kicked out of a shop for being black you would be of the same opinion? One's word against another. Ignore the story?

You changed the story around and put black man in, instead of white woman, how would that change my opinion on crap journalism?

For some it will do. If not in your case then at least you're consistent.

That statement just proves the point i was trying to make, a story with no fact in it can be used to push a persons opinion no matter what it is.

I dont know why, but if a non-white made a racial insult to me for being white, I wouldnt be in the least offended. Neither would any of my white friends for that matter.

And anybody who says they wern't at least a bit shocked when the read the story because "there are racists of every nationality blah blah", seriously you're bending over backwards.

I seriously doubt it. It wouldnt be a first for this kind of shït.

Its tiring listening to people carrying on like only whites / English / Irish etc. are racist.

The article probably fails to point out that she was wearing a full Nazi SS uniform and had 2 decapitated heads and a machine-gun hanging from her belt.

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw in an English newspaper when Jean-Marie Le Pen was planning a trip to Britain. It showed a skinheaded, BNP type looking in disgust at a poster advertising Le Pen's visit. "Bloody foreigners," the skinhead said, "Coming over here and stealing our racism."

I dont think you can say one people are more racist than the next. Humans are territorial animals by nature. I'd guess the Polish are as racist as the Irish and all other nationalities too

Yes you can. Just look all around Ireland, U.S.A., South Africa, to name a few countries, and you’ll see racism at its worst.

Two very good examples of places where you can get murdered for being white.

If the shop doesn't make more money by increasing sales, then I think I've spotted the flaw in their business plan.

My point wasn't specific to any particular race, but racism in all forms against different races.

Yes I am. In addition, I am not saying they are the most racist, simply more racist than others.

    Daily Telegraph enough said.
The Daily Telegraph is a conservative-leaning paper but it's still fairly moderate - it's nowhere near as bad as the Mail/Express.

You could say that about loads of different types of news story - why this one in particular? Why are you definitively stating there is no fact in it? Often word of mouth is considered adequate - the shopkeeper would have been given right to reply (and declining to comment would tend to imply guilt). Journalists/editors have to adhere to certain ethical standards, as well as always considering defamation - they're not just going to throw out any old unsubstantiated yarn... Well ok, some red tops do that, as the amount of copies sold will more than cover the legal costs, but the Telegraph doesn't operate like that.
People are easily lead by the media and the media have a responsibility to tell the truth.
Why the presumption that this isn't the truth though?

I'd say it would depend on the situation for me. But yeah, I hear ya - white people generally have the upper hand anyway so it's not like any racism against us has a huge impact on our lives.
And anybody who says they wern't at least a bit shocked when the read the story because "there are racists of every nationality blah blah", seriously you're bending over backwards.
Ah I'd agree racism is surely going to be a problem in every society - it may just manifest itself in different ways/have differing impacts.

Why are you including Ireland? In fairness, racist comments on Stormfront, whinges on the Herald/Joe Duffy and the very, very odd examples of discrimination (which generally isn't tolerated at an institutional level) are hardly comparable with Apartheid/the Deep South.
I'd say there are far worse places to live than Ireland if you're non white/non English speaking.

If i cant provide an internet link does that mean i'm a liar and so are all the other people who objected to it?

Ow my head...too articulate. I say everybody chill out, go watch Gran Torino and have a good laugh. Racial intolerance can be delightful in the right context

I would never make a direct comparison between Apartheid in South Africa and racism in Ireland, I was pointing out three countries that I have knowledge of that have, in different ways, produced varying degrees of racism more visible than other countries.

Like what in Ireland? I'm not having a go at you, just interested.

I think there is a tendency among some Irish people to be apologetic about/highly critical of this country just because of a handful of racists and just because the Irish emigrated.

The fact that I made a comparison between several countries does not mean that I have to have knowledge of every single country in existence. Would you make a comparison between two people based upon what you know of those two people? If you would, then, by your own rationale, you would have to know every single person in the world before making that comparison.
