    Tut tut, you're wrong.

Each country making up the UK has it's own devolved government, including first minister (apart from England who is governed by the UK government).

If each was a region, what the hell is the point of the Scottish, Welsh & Northern Irish parliaments? Ha?

According to the United Nations there are 195 countries in the world, of which 192 are represented at the UN. The US and UK recognise 194 countries- Taiwan being the odd man out.

The components of the UK, despite having their own parliaments, are not considered to be fully independent countries and are not officially afforded country status.

Humph. They are referred to as countries within the UK though, which causes the .

Bah. I don't like being wrong, so I submit that we are all neither right nor wrong. But I am marginally righter than everyone else.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the full name of the country. Scotland is a kingdom within the United Kingdom (UK), and forms part of Britain (the largest island) and Great Britain (which includes the Scottish islands).
As the UK has no written constitution in the usual sense, constitutional terminology is fraught with difficulties of interpretation and it is common usage nowadays to describe the four constituent parts of the UK (Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland) as “countries”.

And also visited Easter island, technically annexed by Chile, but a 5 hour flight into the pacific from the mainland. Its the most isolated inhabited island on the planet so i think it should kind of qualify as a seperate one. And northern Ireland , but that isn't really a seperate country either.

May I direct your attention to this wikipedia article sir International_recognition_of_Kosovo

56 of the UN states formally recognise Kosovo as an independent country, including the important ones like the USA, UK, France etc.

And I don't believe for a second that you were in Kosovo....or indeed even 5% of the countries you listed. But prove me wrong....pics? Other evidence?
