Iv been sleeping with this girl for the last week and to be honest i only really know here a week but today we had sex and up until now iv always wore protection but today i had none left and she had informed me of having the implant from the first time we slept together so we went ahead without a condom, great as it was im worried now about how effective it is and how the bloody thing works in the first place?
so any girls or guys out there that have any advice or experience in the matter it would be greatly appreciated

Which type implant, the one that goes in the arm the implanon
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Implanon

Or the one that goes in the womb
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IntraUterine_System

The links above explain how both of them work, they contain the same
hormoans as the oral contraceptive pill which are released into the body
stopping ovulation from occuring and preventing the lining of the womb
    from building up.

IF you didn't know how they worked why did you stop using condoms ?

Also condoms protect you from a range of sti and hiv, how do you know
she is not hiv postive or has an sti or indeed how do you know ?
Have you both been tested and screen recently ?
Otherwise you are taking a risk with your sexual health and your life.

I went to the doctor recently about contraception and was told it's over 99% effective (this is the arm one) because of the inability of 'messing' it up as it basically works automatically by releasing hormones.

So I wouldn't worry about pregnancy (provided she's been truthful about having the implant) but remember pregnancy isn't the only result of sex as has already been said.
