Hi guys, I'm playing at a dance event pretty soon, we're expecting about 2000 people so this really has to happen somehow. Basically I need to get my hands on a really big drum, about 6 feet in diameter or as close as possible to this. The deadline is mid June. Anyone know where I can get my hands on one? Or anyone know how to make one? It doesn't need to sound great it's more for visual effect than anything else. Like I said this needs to happen somehow so any help no matter how insignificant would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You'd prolly be looking for a DaeBuk, one of those HUGE asian style drums. Couldn't even begin to guess where you could get your hands on one (bar asia :p)

I may get lynched for this one but its an idea all the same...

A signed band that use quite a lot of trad stuff in there music(from Ireland) had the same problem. They managed to get a loan of giant drum from one of the orange men groups from the north, (Should work provided its a plain drum, and not covered in union jacks and the like :pac:)

Thanks, now i have this image of ulster answer to the blue man group in my head. :pac:

OP, you could always just use a regular bass drum, but get a little person to play it, making it look larger in the process

Have you tried maybe getting in touch with one of the performance art groups such as Macnas (http://www.macnas.com/index.php) They may have something along the lines you are looking for. I would say try and get in touch this week as they may have ti for paddys day and be able to help out.
