xp-police(.)com problem

    Hi all,

    Hoping for a bit of advice here please.

    I have started to get a problem when web browsing. Almost everytime I open a new tab, it redirects me to xp-police(.)com web page.

    Have used both avg and norton to scan my pc, but it doesnt seem to stop the problem. I have managed through norton to block it redirecting to this page, but it simply says internet explorer cannot find such page now when I open a new tab. I have to keep hitting the back button and then starting again.

    Its an inconvenience more than anything, I've researched it on the net but cant seem to find a solution.

    I should mention that it doesnt matter if I use Firefox, I still get the same problem, also I'm a bit of a technophob, so no really long winded or complex solutions please.

    Sounds like a browser hijack. It may even be has harmless as they've reset your home page.
    Run Hijack this and throw up a report.

    Thanks for that, I did check my home page originally, but it said it was google.ie (which it should have been).

    I set my home page to blank, and that seems to have done the trick.

    Once again, thanks for the help.

    You should definately have a check for a browser hijack just to be sure.

    You should probably think about downloading the free version of Ad-aware from lavasoft and running it on your system.

    I think that some anti-virus programs can detect these issues, are you up to date with yours?
