Acoustic Guitar (Around €2k)

I've been toying around with the idea of getting a new acoustic. I don't play electric anymore so I might as well just get a guitar that will last forever... No more wasting money on the low end...

I don't really know whats out there in the way of high end acoustics, I don't like Taylor guitars at all, not really a big fan of Martin guitars, I have reservations about the quality of Gibson, never played Guild but I'll be giving a few of them a blast on the weekend.

What I'd like is a handbuild luthier steel string guitar, jumbo body with a cutaway but I haven't a breeze where I should be looking...

How much would it cost to have one built for me? Can anyone reccomend a good luthier or even a brand to try out?

Forget Martin and Taylor. Thats a very nice budget and will get you a very nice handmade guitar. Personally I'd go for that McIlroy A25 on adverts at the moment. It's actually a very good price for that guitar. I paid 3000 for mine and they sound amazing especially plugged in. You could get a pickup added to that one and it'd prob cost you 2100-2200 all in. Do you really need a cutaway? How often would you be playing that high on the fretboard on an acoustic? I didn't bother with one on mine and I dont miss it at all

Check out Patrick James Eggle too. Would be hard to try one out though, so putting 2k on a guitar that you have never tried may not be your idea of fun!

How about a K. Yairi guitar?

I've heard a fair few people rave about them. They're made in Japan, like all good guitars.

Also they look nice and come in under budget.

I was looking at that Mcilroy, if its still there by the end of the month I might jump on it.

I'd prefer the extra fret access for the range really, I'd use the 12 on my tak if I could reach it :P

@Quottroste: Jaysus they are some seriously nice guitars, http://www.eggle.co.uk/saluda_cutaway.html made me drule a little... Price isn't bad either... I'll have to do some reading!

How about Breedlove?
Or for your budget you wouldn't be far off getting a Guitar made by a good Luthier so that is an option.

I might be cutting my budget to 1500 to fit in a classical aswell, anyone know of good nylon string guitars for around 500?

i have a guild which cost me €800 and is probably at the bottom of the scale in their models but its still a fantastic sounding and playing guitar.
Id reckon the top of the range models are even nicer.check em out if you can.

+1 fro Breedlove.
I have a Breedlove Balance and it is beautiful. Used to play lots of Martins but this is more distinct with understated beauty. And the tone.....:D

Try out some lowden guitars, You'd definitely pick one up second hand for under 2k.

He'll be doing well to get a Collings for 2 grand. Chrisguitars.com often gets in some very nice breedloves. Never played them but some of their custom guitars look stunning
