    Hi Maura2145.

It's a common mistake to think this is a public internet forum. It's not. It's a private forum that you signed up to, run by a private company. When a user signs up, they agree to this sentence:

"Do read the Forum Stickies before you post in each forum, they contain important information, posting guidelines and forum specific rules."

I didn't see any public scolding here. Just a friendly word to a new user by a forum moderator to show that the rule is still in effect.

Now that PYG is getting more comfortable in her new role, I predict she will be more comfortable pointing out when people have breached a forum rule in public - which she is both entitled and expected to do as a moderator.

    It's a tough job etc...

fair enough point. But i do think that people genuinely dont know thats they case when they join/post on a public internet forum!
Im sorry if my views seem misplaced but i dont believe in the whole public scolding thing. I dont see it as showing respect or patience, especially since everybody has done it at some point from what i can see. maybe its best to pm people in such instances

But I know that the mods have a job to do. Ive just seen non-mods do it in the past and it pure annoys me haha!

Understood. I have just seen it done when people are not moderators and i viewed it to create an air of unneccesary superiority. and a tad patronising, never mind unwelcoming to new users. But I understand it is forum policy and that PYG has a job to do. and im sure she will do that well!! I guess its hard to consistantly 'police' such a thing as text speak. when so many people are doing it and not getting told off

    Here here Maura2145.

i just didnt think that was very welcoming to Mr or Mrs Bantowncop when it could have easily been said in a pm. (Don't mean to criticise but as a new mod PYG I'm sure you'll understand its only meant to help you out). manys a time i've had to re-read a post to see what folk are on about because of the text and nothing has ever been said by any moderators!!

if I did have something to complain about on here it'd be when people say "i pm-ed you" in a post when its gonna be very obvious to whoever it was meant for that you have done. Well thats my 2 cents.

I can certainly see both your points but PYG did the right thing by pointing it out to BTC in as gentle a way as possible without being aggressive. It also acts as a gentle reminder to other posters too. If a poster were to continue going against a Mods direction then it could be taken to PM.

Anyways lets get back on topic

i was looking for an appropriate noun to describe how that made me feel, hatred, loathing, abhorrence all came into mind but on checking definitions none of them come close to capturing the essence of emotion coursing through me, so anyway the quest continues, best of luck PE hopefully I'll find the word today and let you know

    xoxo

Yous guys probably have the best intake, weather wise. You'll miss running around in the winter mornings and instead have to train in the blazing heated summers we get... although this summer is supposed to be good...they always say that dont they..

thats good news cause as morri just pointed out i like to get my legs out every so often. and i might add what deliciously lovely legs they are 2 if i dont say so myself!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 246 ✭✭Maura2145

well your legs might be but legs arent much use when you cripple yourself by pulling a muscle in your ass when you play football. you recovered from that yet?

ps: Is the induction day at night or during the day?

It appears someone accidentally closed the main ES page so no one could reply to any thread and then it got deacivated. Its fixed now and the link under the Soc category will appear again tomorrow

No definitely not. Only an admin would have the power to do that. I'll log it in the Helpdesk if it's not been done already. I think it was a mistake.

hmmm it appears i have some information you want???
thats gotta be worth somethin. basically we are gettin ourselves in for lots and lots of hard work. the pack comes with regulations for trainee officers. and also has ammendments for the regulations we recieved. also in case u mistake any of the terms and phrases in the regulations there are included the definitions of the terms.

i felt like i was embarking on a secret mission whilst reading it!!

Have a look at the earlier posts on the Starting Garnerville Soon thread. There are a load of great tips in there.
