GARY ANDERSON has followed Mark Webster in joining the Professional Darts Corporation.

Former Lakeside Champion Webster announced his move onto the PDC circuit last week, and Anderson confirmed his switch at the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts in Edinburgh on Thursday.

The Scottish ace has risen to the number one spot in both the BDO and WDF World Rankings during his career to date, as well as winning both the International Darts League and World Darts Trophy in 2007.

He has also been a semi-finalist in both Grand Slam of Darts tournaments in 2007 and 2008, and will now take on the likes of Phil Taylor and Terry Jenkins - his conquerors in that event - on a regular basis.

"It's a new challenge," said Anderson. "I'm looking forward to it and it's going to be hard starting at the bottom.

"It's got to the stage where darts is a business now and not just a sport, and I have to dig in deep and give it 110 percent from here.

"Mervyn King has done well since joining the PDC and Robert Thornton has done extremely well too, and hopefully I can follow in their footsteps.

"I made it to number one in the BDO and WDF and the challenge for me now is to carry on from there."

Anderson will continue his partnership with Gary Robson and Davie Hanson in the 'Men in Black' stable, while he will be managed by top Scottish boxing promoter Tommy Gilmour.

He will play on the PDC Pro Tour for the first time in the weekend of events in Irvine on March 7 & 8.

well how will he get on???

I think he will do brilliantly on the circuit, Anderson is a quality floor player. It will take him a little bit to settle into the majors though but I expect him to be a top 8 player at least.
