it seems that they have adjusted the exchange rate on their site from £ = €1.40 to £1 = €1.30

a bit more realistic, but the question is just how long will this last?

Sorry if I'm being thick, but does it matter what their rate is? Surely if you just order in sterling, the rate is set by your credit card company.

They don't let you order in Sterling unless you are having your products delivered to a UK address.

    And £1 = €1.30 is still a rip off.

I dont mind they are great value i think especially on boxsets and delivery is free would rather pay 32.49 euro for Battlestar Galactica final season eg, that would probably cost what 50 euro at Zavvi or HMV.

AFAIK, Irish people turned away from play.com when the FX rate dropped but their internal rate didn't. While it is still way too much (I mean, why not just charge for the extra delivery cost?) I'm glad to see that they took heed of the drop in Irish business and reduced their rate.

However, I now buy from www.blahdvd.co.uk and www.gameplay.co.uk. Much cheaper than play, you can buy in sterling and let the credit card rate apply and there's no funny business (amazon & play don't ship certain items to Ireland, for no apparent reason). I think play have lost a lot of custom by trying to gouge us.

Of course the best thing to do is to compare products on all sites and see which works out the cheapest.
