    how do i install it onto my SUSE linux system?

    Look for a program called YaST. It has a list of software which you can install (think it's under Software->Software Management, it's been a while). Gimp should be in there :)

    YaST is the first thing to try. It might be called Administrative Settings in the program listings.

    If you want to use the command line, you can do:
    sudo zypper install gimp
    
    and enter your password when prompted.

    how do i access the command line on the Suse 10 operating system
    someone help!

    i tried using yast but it just won't work!!

    Open a terminal.

    The terminal is normally in the menu:

    Applications > Accessories > Terminal
    or
    Applications > System Tools > Terminal

    Once a terminal window is open run the command:
    sudo zypper install gimp
