    Heya,

Well..as part of a continuing project I am in need of a top and bottoms which are of the same weave/pattern as the ones below. The colour should be easy enough to do but when it comes to knitting i would not know how to do it or where to get the materials? I have been told to use 3mm cotton cord

    Any help is appreciated, thanks:)

If you use any standard jumper and trouser knitting patterns you should be okay. As far as I know, the Monty Python chainmail from the Holy Grail were knit with plain Garter Stitch, i.e. every row in knit stitch. I'd guess using chunky wool and fairly thick needles will have an effect close to chain. If you use a light coloured wool and then spray paint it afterwards in silver, it should work well. Bear in mind it could take quite a while, but I bet it'll be worth it!

You could also use a shade of grey which looks like metal. If you knit just stocking stitch it will knit up quicker than garter stitch and then you wear it with the reverse side out:)
