guitar nuts replacing

    hey need advice, want to change a fender acoustic from Lh to rh
    has big sentemental value, suppose the nut and saddle need replacing, wouldnt mind lowering the action a touch aswell, its was in an attic for 5 years needs new stings, it was in its case but still needs a clean. Is it to hard a job for myself? recomend anyone? any idea of price? All advice welcome.

    Its very tough to do this perfectly as the usual slots for saddles are angled. Still, you can do a passable job by just replacing the nut and saddle.

    You should get a RH nut and saddle for cheap from any decent guitar shop, just bring in your old ones to compare. Youll find it hard to get a nut that matches perfectly but if the width is ok then its pretty easy to lower or raise it.

    To bring down the bridge or nut just get some coarse sandpaper and bring it down to roughly where you think is ok (check it on the guitar every now and again) and then finish it with a flat file.

    sounds a little awkward, might leave it in somewhere, got a price of 150 plus, a bit steep i thought. thanks for the advice
