My little sister used to make up her own words for everyday things when she learned to talk.
She called the remote control - the dotendote (dote en dote) she also referred to her mother as bitch.

'Gimme the dotendote and my pesketti'
    'It's remote and spaghetti'
    'Bitch'

    So cute:pac:

Apparently, when my cousin Brucie was little, he went through a phase of making up a word that started with B for everything.

I think I was at least 9 when I found out that it was a remote control and not a Barmuder, because that's all we ever called it.

It's called the cooter in our house for some reason. Gets us some funny looks from Americans.

Really? What a coincidence, ours is called the 'gubinge', it gets us some strange looks whenever there's aborigines at our house.

    It's slang for vagina......

I'd love to have seen the looks on your american friends faces.

EDIT: Wait a minute, you were kidding, right?

It's just called the remote in my house, but a friend calls it "the squeezy", and it annoys the crap out of me.

    The Changer

I live in the UK now and people just look at me funny when I say it. Although saying the word press as in "Kitchen Press" gets much the same response.

I call presses 'presses' too:o. I understand, not many people do 'cos it's like, a silly name really for a press:D. Ps I call them 'the buttons', like 'Where are the feckin' buttons, no not the dvd buttons, not the video buttons-the telly buttons, no! They're the kitchen telly ones ffs!!!
