Maid of Honours duties...

Hi all. My good missus is maid of honour for a wedding in 2010 but she has no idea what her responsibilities and duties are. Got me thinking too 'cause I've been groomsman a few times and never bothered to find out what the bridal party do, if anything. Anyone know?

I searched the 'Wedding and Marriage' forum without luck, excuse me if I overlooked a similar thread.

hi, first ever post hope I do it right! I've done it a few times and am getting married this year and what I did and hope to have done is:
organise hen night, don't allow bride to pay for anything, help shop for dress, keep mother/daughter wedding drama to a minimum, listen to endless stories about the wedding!, don't give out about the dress you've to wear

on the day arrive early or stay the night before, make sure hairdresser and make-up person do their job,

help the bride to get dressed, keep here calm, in the church fix the dress, take her flowers and sign register

in the hotel keep her make-up and other items- all things that might be needed, help her to go to the toilet and fix dress, make sure she has a drink (even just water) cos she won't have a chance to get one

    hope that helps

    ^^Agreed. :)

When I was a MOH, I also organized the bridal shower.

Aside from the shower and the hen party, the MOH basically helps out with anything that the bride asks; if she needs an extra hand with something or needs someone to call and yell at the florist or needs help addressing the invitations, etc. etc. etc. Oh, and sometimes the MOH (as well as the best man) makes a short speech at the reception -- but that's completely up to the bride and groom.

My experience was a tad stressful, but only because I wanted to make sure the bride was happy -- and I like to think that I did a good job! Provided the bride isn't a bridezilla, your "good missus" should be just fine.
