does anyone know a good site/artists network where artists can show pictures of their paintings?

similar to flickr maybe but for artists?

It's not specifically for artists, it's more of a networking group (and it's mainly west based at the moment) however www.kotalk.com encourages folk to publicise there stuff on it..

hey there

how about www.etsy.com ? I am on there as a crafter, but i have lots of friends who sell their art - paintings, screenprints etc. It has worldwide audience which is great i find. the fees are pretty reasonable if you wanted to try it out
