The Beard Challenge

I have taken up a challenge with my friend, I am not to shave for 1 year. It's week 8 now and It's about an inch long, except for my upper lip, which decides it will grow feck all. It just looks a bit weird having not much of a 'tache. I've always wanted a beard and now I have an excuse. It'll be Castro style when the next 44 weeks are over.
So, what's the longest anyone here has grown a beard?

Your first beard will grow out a bit scraggly... you really need get the first one out of the way before moving on to a proper beard.

Are you not allowed trim it at all? Could end up being a bit biblical.

Growing since the start of march. I trim the tache regularly and it's ok from a practical point of view...

Edit: forgot to mention, it looks fantastic!

Nope, not allowed trim even. Does look a big scraggly, hence being referred to as pube-face by the friend in question. I want to see how far i can go with this until I get annoyed some night and shave it.

Edit: if not, prepare to wave goodbye to many foodstuffs from the fourth month

I didn't, he did and keeps referencing it with regard to my face. My sister hasn't either, but amazingly came up with minge-face on her own.

I Can't really grow much of a tash so that end shouldn't really be a problem, but we'll see. Someone suggested that I take a pic of myself everyday and make a video of it.

Well there's not much you can do... A first beard will always look like total ass I'm afraid.

I was never great at mustache growing myself, but as the beard gets longer it should all start to jell together.

Ah well, at least it's stopped itching.

The longest I've grown without trimming is about 6 months, although I trimmed the moustache towards the end. Kept it going for another few months until I shaved it all off again. :p I'm weird like that. :o

I really want to see what it's like when the year is up, I have a feeling it's going to be rubbish, but epically rubbish.

18 months - 'bout a foot long. had to tend to the tash and locks etc though, and even at that was really looking like a bum, so hope you got a job that doesn't mind that. Also after a few inches it will be coated with soup, curry, butter or whatever whenever you eat, so you will be washing it a few times a day! got to the stage with me that I was spending more time maintaining it than I was saving by not shaving, so it had to go.

Aye, it's a bid odd when homeless folk say hello rather than asking for cash.
