DOWNING make any sense ? theres a racehorse owner called Paul Downing. Best I can do so far.

theres also an american footballer called PAUL HORNUNG which fits but I cannot justify

5A. Stadium shoe (6) - (thought it was runner but the letters are)

Couple of good shouts for the Paul on board one.

I had "town" down as part of it to reflect on City.

At the moment Townend has me. Town = City. End = Final?

paul townend is a jockey on flat and over jumps. Never entered my head
