One of the better ones in my opinion. I haven't looked at that Game Damage thing and I get the feeling I don't want to.

(He's still wrong about Brawl dammit!)

This weeks show was good especially the first half... taking the piss out of Sonic was overdue.

Game Damage needs a lot of work. Maybe if it was a weekly show ~10 minutes long instead of 30 mins and they did actual reviews, they could be onto a winner.

    Was excellent !! :D

The Yahtzee factor I think is the problem with gamedamage; I think there's potential for a blogesque, sketch show style format, but Yahtzee just dominates the camera, dominates the "lines" & just in general overshadows the other two who are that bit more nervous & less articulate.

I dunno about the rest of your but that gamedamage show is pretty sh.it. The other 2 are right annoying tits, one of which seemed fit to tell the world he had a girlfriend, guess he must be as shocked as everyone else. Even Yahtzee is jumping the shark abit here, personally I prefer him as his little 2D character of himself rather then actually seeing him.

Also did anyone else find it ironic that the zero punctation review was based on a game that has clearly jumped the shark and now what has yathzee gone and done :D

i thought where it was the three of them on the coach being very frank about game news/reviews mmos etc (esp the sonic bit) were quite good. But the sketchs were pretty boring, esp with how its been done so much already and they cant compete.

But the bit where they discussed the sonic series and one admits to liking sonic adventure and yahtzee argues that sonic has always had a sort of rock soundtrack (except without bad singing) that worked the same way as websites like Kotaku and 1UP work, its showing game journalism and discussion by people who really love games.

I do think the MMO section would be good for laughs and information. If they put more time to that and took out the sketches you could be onto a winner, especially with the week long playtest formula. Yahtzee grudgingly admiting he enjoyed his bit in city of heroes somewhat needed fleshing out.

I enjoyed game damage. Master Chief suit ftw! I considered it in the context of a video podcast rather than a tv show and enjoyed it like that.

pretty good, if not a little long winded. could be onto a winner

looking at it again from the production side of things. The best thing they can do is get the three of them off the one coach and into a sort of layout where they dont stare at the camera like idiots when they're not talking, it'll make the couch bits etc alot more natural.

As podcast or tv show the skit/sketches have far too much competition on the internet, between mega64, screwattack, some of the escapists programmes videogaiden and idiots on youtube there is actually a very high standard required to stand out and there is far too much chance of a joke just falling flat on its face (which the MGS one did I felt) I rather see them drop the skits in favour of something else.

somone on their facebook page joked about a dont feed the buzzcocks style programme, which I actually laughed because I thought it could be good.

Well a gameshow about games could be pretty funny if you got some natural comedians like Yahtzee to be the contestants, I endorse this idea and give it my papal blessing.

I liked GameDamage. This was filmed entirely sans budget so its pretty impressive. The Sketches were pretty lame but Matt's rant and Yahtzee Point and Click thing were great.

we can do the same easily (can get access to equipment, skills and maybe studio sans budget aswell), though who would want to watch an irish gameshow is a different question :D

Well if you consider the only good Games related show in ages was by two middle aged overweight balding Scottish blokes that liked to take their clothes off a bit too much then who knows, it could be good.

Thered be a terrible temptation to shout 'Yore Ma' jokes at the camera.

theres a 2008 highlight reel up on Zp for those who care..

but more importantly when i watched that game damage clip something bugged me...yahtzee reminded me of someone but i couldnt remember who..

And just now it's dawned on me: yahtzee is the mild mannered alter ego of:

    TECHNOVIKING!!

    techno-viking.jpg

    297_yahtzee_interview.jpg

It's the hat that's let him get away with this double life for so long! And you all thought it was just some affectation..pchaw

Nice way to round up imo.

I really need to play more of his GOTY tho...atm that realistic version is getting more play time despite being buggy as **** on pc.

Bloody hell even working for me on the PS3.

I like yahtzee but he spends 99.9% bitching about the neagatives and .1 on the positvies so its hard to know what his opinion is. Surprised about deadspace tho.

He is just entertainment, you would never buy another game (okay maybe SR2) if you took it as gospel.

I think Yahtzee needs to think about reducing these shows to every 2 weeks or something other than being weekly. It seems like he's just churning them out at this stage. Also, given how he effectively changed his mind about two games he had liked (Fallout 3 / GTA4) in this latest video, it makes it feel even mroe like a weekly 4 minute rant.

    Surprised about deadspace tho.

He said it failed at being a survival horror... and it did, abysmally. As a TPS it was good, but it was not a survival horror. It's a genre I've seen very few games get right. They always forget about the horror and overload the player with weapons and upgrades. The whole point of a survival horror is to always feel like your character is about to die or be attacked.

A great example was Penumbra: Black Plague, where you where given no weapons and instead the only way to survive was to run away and hide... man that game was eerie when you where crouched under a desk and your eyes would slowly adjust to the darkness and see a creature sniffing around the room looking for you... now that was a survival horror.

That's because it is just a weekly, four minute rant.

I should clarify; it just feels like Yahtzee is filling airtime with rants he doesn't quite believe in, playing games he doesn't really want to. They were more fun when it wasn't obviously a job for him.
