Contempomi was getting treatment at the time

maybe you have the intelligence of a U-7 player?

Must say I agree with Steve o. There were better kickers on the pitch the BOD, and his attempt was terrible. That and his erratic little grubber kicks often cost us.

Why is it only an issue this season? or is this the first season he has tried to get that flat a backline?

its the first time hes actually admitted that a flat backline is what he wants

What about Kearney would he have been a better option to kick to touch?

Only kearney and he didn't seem to be around at the time it was in the dying minute where every second counted, BOD stepped and I respect him for that it was unfortunate but to for Stevo to launch such a scathing attack on him is completely uncalled for given the circumstances.

Just on the ercwebsite, the table as it stands:

    Leinster 4 15
    Wasps 3 8
    Castres 4 5
    Edinburgh 3 4

So yeah, if wasps get 5 on sunday they are on 13. Assuming both teams will win in round 6, its a cup final-esque match in twickenham. Im worried. If we get a losing BP and wasps don't get a BP either this weekend or against us. I think i would take that....

Really disappointing stuff from leinster, rudderless and directionless...inexplicable, I just don't get it...hope they get their sh1t together, suck it up, and come back from this. Alot of the old demons rearing their ugly heads there.

Nope you telling me that a player who has been riddled with hamstring injuries should find touch? Nacewa and Dempsey could of easily done it BOD doing it was beyond normal logic.

Why not? For the whole season he has been finding touch out of hand even when our own ROG couldn't.

Leinster, with all due respect Bleg, musn't go to Twickers with that attitude. They've got to go to win and win well. That's when Leinster are at their best.

He has a ****e boot on him Nacewa, Kearney and Girve are much better. I didnt know ROG was playing for Leinster these days.

i'm assuming that wasps get 5 on sunday and only 4 against leinster and that leinster get 5 against edinburgh.

I was talking about Ireland I thought you would get that but in future I will have to explain things more fully to you it would seem.

Kearney wasn't around, BOD stepped up because he was confident and why shouldn't he be? Hes found touch in these situations before when the outhalf was down as I said this was a once off and was unfortunate it seems you are just manipulating it to have a right go at BOD.

but what about wasps v castres? if they get 4 in that match that would take them to 21...

Must be very annoying to follow Leinster when they play like that. A poor performance in this stage of the group is almost inexcusable.

Oh come off its not the first time he's decided to kick and completely messed things up,it was completely stupid move by BOD who should of let the experienced kickers do their job.

    Really?

How many times has ROG kicked for touch and missed? it happens

I can't recall one time other than tonight BOD has kicked for touch and missed care to refresh my memory?

What I can recall are all the times when he stepped up and found touch.

You'd feel bad for Sexton, im well know for disliking him but his kicking today was spot on for the most part and you feel if Cheika had a bit more confidence in him he could of slotted one of those two penalties Leinster got.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,848 ✭✭✭bleg

    why was he taken off?

Dunno i honestly think Cheika doesnt have faith in my as he hasnt finished a match once since Conters and Nacewa were out. The weird thing is that he wasnt nessacarilly doing anything bad for the match he was doing pretty good, to take him off at half time is strange and even more strange to go for Conters at 10 since he's generally been piss poor there.

I honestly don't know why they have "Rugby pundits"

Sexton was taken off because he did something to his shoulder this was as clear as day if you look at him after he scored the try. He couldn't lift his arm above the shoulder, and I'm pretty sure it effected the conversion as he had been kicking well up to that point.

Leinsters problem is actually at Scrum Half. Whitaker is way too slow, he was personally responsible for at least 3 turnovers. The ball was actually at the back of the ruck, ref was screaming at him that the ball was out but he insisted on arsing around at the base of the ruck. The defence has so much time to arrange themselves he then take a couple of steps and throws an average pass to the outhalf.

The Way leinster are trying to play the game would suit Stringers play down to a tea. He just flys the ball out no matter what, They don't have any options with Scrum half because they spent their budget getting in Elsom whilst he is a great player we had good backrown options with Stephen Keoghm Sean O'Brien and Jowitt not making the team. They lost willis to Ulster who was a decent option at scrum half.

I won't say leinster are doomed to failure until they get a fast service from the scrumhalf but they'll make life very difficult for themselves. It's way too easy for defences to reorganise when Whitaker arses around for 30 seconds. I wouldn't mind but the rest of his play is very good....ie he has a good break and he makes great tackles.

Cheika made a remark about selection at the end of the game. Will be interesting to see if that translates to changes, there is competition in most positions on the pitch at the moment, which is healthy.

Honestly though, I think Leinster are gong to come good in a big way towards the end of the season, especially with Nacewa and Contepomi back.

O'Driscoll realised something big was needed, and went for a long kick. It was a gamble but at that stage playing the percentages isn't really an option any more.

The sonner Cullen gets back for Leinster the better. Leinster seem to lack someone to slap some sense into them.

Still though, it's in there hands and you can ask for more.

What?! There was 3minutes left. Thats plenty of time to "find" Kearney or dempsey to slot the ball down the line.

    So IMO

    1) Sean O'Brien was very unlucky not to get that spot. While Elsom and Heaslip were great in the loose, our ability to protect ball and turn it over was SEVERELY lacking.

2)At times Whitaker was faster than he had been in previous matches, an yet at other periods he was slow as hell. He's still our best scrummie so hey, whatcha gonna do about it.

3)What was the story with Van Der Linde? Sorely missed.

4)Having two players who were suffering from injuries until last week backfired. Contepomi was good in the loose but suffered majorly as a ten.

Finally, that was, unless leinster can get a bonus point away to a still misfiring wasps, the biggest throw away of a home quarter final i've ever seen.

Leinster should've won that game. Castres didn't get a try and didn't even look like getting one in truth. Silly penalties and ill-discipline cost the game.
BOD is a still a legend, but he messed up big time with that kick. Bad mistake to make under the circumstances. Leinster will still get out of this group, but they've blown their chances of a home QF now i would suspect.
