    Hi Lads

Got an interview coming up for a company who do power supplys, dc -dc converters etc.

any sites I can go to or what should I brush up on for this ? also analogue and digital basics would be good.

Been a good bit since I did my degree and im rusty as hell....

    cheers.

What job are you going for? whats your background?

I would brush up on switch mode power supplies and general power electronics...

Know the various configurations of chopper circuits.... Also be able to work out where the energy is going in various circuits, eg fly back converters....

know a bit about high frequency transformers too, why can they be made so small etc....

know about switching and static losses in power semi conductors....

Its a junior entry level engineering role.

The headhunter mentioned about power supplys, analog and digital ccts (for psu's i would imagine)

My background is microelec not power electronics, but hey in times like this .....

I am reading up the reference data for engineers, wayy too much is this?

What sort of analog or digital circuits could I be asked, i would imagine it would be not too much complicated stuff but who knows what they can fire at you...?

    thanks

I'd imagine they'd be asking you to draw a linear regulator then some sort of step down regulator... explain the differences in terms of power dissipation etc...

    Hey DublinDilbert

how can you explain the diference (in layby terms) of say a buck switching reg and a linear rego.?

I know the linear is more wasteful and less efficent etc but in math terms?
