We won a Golden Spider.

    I'm trying not to be cynical here, its really a nice award and its nice to have lots of people feel good enough about the site that they voted for it. Thanks. :)

    We won "Best Boards-Like Site" ("best social and community site" actually).

    There will be pics, at least one of me pretending to be the "Queen of the Spider People" (which Phaxx took :) ). ahem...

    We got the biggest cheer of the night which was nice (all those techies stood up and cheered for us.... then sat down again, panting heavily) :)

    I'm going to bed now. Sleepy time for bagpuss.

    Great news. I know the awards get a lot of um, well-deserved flak but it's great publicity for boards and it rewards all the hours that a lot of people have put in to making it what it is. Congrats everyone:)

    There's an article about us winning in today's Irish Times:
    Boards.ie scoops Golden Spider award

    ONLINE FORUM Boards.ie netted the inaugural People's Choice Award at the Eircom Golden Spiders internet awards, which were presented in Dublin last night by comedian Des Bishop.

    The hugely popular discussion forum was the "clear winner", according to the organisers in the category where members of the public were invited to vote for their favourite social networking and community website.

    I've heard he's a pretty decent guy alright, there are a fair few comedians that are HORRIBLE to work and chat with, never got the chance to host him though.
