Thats the first time I've heard a complaint against WD, from what I've heard they are rated quite high...

Believe me, I have empirical evidence to suggest otherwise :-)

Glad I'm backing up to a Seagate, though I think the new primary 500 inside is WD. Thanks for the headsup, I'll have a read.

Seagate are win, gotta love that 5 year warranty.

I've done 6 platter transfers, had 7 failures, 2 self destructs and a couple with dodgy connectors that needed resoldering. All those were repairs for various people who had been bitten in the ass after trusting WD drives. I've got a couple of Maxtor Raptor drives which I've had no problems with but everything important goes onto my Seagate drives. They're the only brand I trust completely.

For your entertainment this afternoon, not one, not two, but three Epic Fails.

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/11/13/cop_tasers_self/

Read the Snopes analysis for the third one (which is probably the most serious).

A 5 year warranty is pretty brave. HDD's generally have fairly high failure rate after 3-4 years. Seagate drives must be quite good if they can offer that kind of warranty.

Don't worry, I am sufficiently enraged at him and the internet to be currently writing a long and super legal sounding feedback thread.

I am mentioning in no particular order, my human rights, freedom of speech, libel, how people need to get a life, they are nerds, their postcounts if higher than mine, their postcounts if lower than mine.

I need one other qualified individual to act as my, tard in support, to thank my posts and rant with me.

Little does lemming know, that I a lowly poster, will fight the system and topple the power of the admins.

Be warned, feedback has NEVER failed.

MTTF is about 2 years for drives. Usually if you send back a drive to seagate, they can fix it, thus improving their manufacturing process, or they just flash the firmware from a small drive on it. i.e. you send back a 1TB drive, they go "Oh look, all the bad sectors are on the last 250gb" and reflash it and resell it as a 750gb drive.

They also have the ability to recover data from a failed drive. Not exactly a new piece of technology but I don't know of any other manufacturer out there offering that as a service. Mind you, they do charge a hefty amount for doing it.

    BAD BAD idea . Im equally as p*ssed as you for the ban but ;

Free speech + internet = That no compute ( Free speech does NOT exist on the internet )

Don't use legal words - Belive me - I wrote a pm to lemming regarding the ban and , because my father is a barrister and alot has rubbed off on me, I was tempted to use legal words but that = site ban ( fairly ovious )

The whole *SLAG THE CR*P OUT OF PEOPLE WHO CAN BAN ME* Also not a good idea. Just keep in mind that alot of people in any state of power can let it go to there head . And I AM NOT IMPLYING ANYTHING and why would I beause I have never ran into the mods on boards so don't have any epenion on them.

You should talk to your father regarding "freedom of speech" then, because you are NOT entitled to any such thing on a privately owned website. its the equivalent of someone posting abuse on your Bebo page. would you delete it? why? aren't they "entitled to their opinion"? ;)

And for the record, sam was just pis*ing about with that post. its "sarcasm"., ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 632 ✭✭✭sean.carolan100

I dunno If I have miss-read/typed something but as far as I know your saying that freedom of speech doesn't exist on the internet - If thats the case - I know , thats what i said in the post . If you saying it does exist - well you most likely right .
    Please explain
