    Bit pissed off!

I opened a small plastic seal on my 40GB PS3 this morning to check for a HDMI cable. Wasn't in there so ventured into town at lunch to get one. I asked in Tesco who didn't have any. And realised after i left the counter that they were also selling the 80GB PS3 for the same price I paid.

So rather than queue again (and I didn't have the PS3 with me), I said I'd phone Tesco Sligo and ask about it. So I was straight up and told the girl on the phone the story and that I opened the small seal to check what video cable was in it, but everything else (video cables / power cables etc are all fine and wrapped up in their original plastic). She couldn't get through to electronics department but said it should be fine to bring back.

So went in on the bus (PS3 in hand) and was told the manager isn't here today and to come back tomorrow, but the fact that the small seal is opened makes it unlikely I can exchange it but the electronics manager will know better tomorrow. I don't drive so I had no intention of hauling it back tomorrow so I left it with them. I wrote my name and number on a piece of paper and said phone me when they know (but odds are they'll be sold out of the 60GB tomorrow anyways).

I know it's well in their rights for them to refuse it.. but I'm a bit peeved to be honest that I couldn't get a straight answer out of them and they'll refuse an exchange over a small piece of sellotape being broken despite everything on the inside bring wrapped.

    Ah well... RANT OVER!

You should have asked to speak to the store manager or checkout manager. They'd probably let you return it if only the sellotape was removed.

Yeah, the checkout girl upstairs was swamped (so can't blame her really), but odds are the 80GB models will be gone by the time the manager sees it.

Should I go in after work and ask to speak to the store manager about it?

I'd ring up and ask for the manager. If you wait they could be sold out and you'd be kicking yourself.

Could be wrong but i thought Tesco had a 28 day return policy if you are not happy with a product for whatever reason

I've a PS3 reserved but I can't decide whether to buy or not. I'm just after spending €200 on games for the old Xbox a few weeks ago y'see. I'm in indecision hell. Is the PS3 as good a media centre as XBMC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,583 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Rang there.. and she said she'll chase after a manager and have him ring me ASAP.

Don't think they're too happy with me.. but all I want to do is speak to a manager for a minute and get an answer as to whether they'll accept the exchange or not!

Was there many 80GB's left, KBizzle?! :D

I mean at this stage, I'm probably not really arsed anymore. It's far more hassle than it's worth! It's more principle than anything!

They had 3 on the shelf and the Sales assistant said they had more in stock that they were putting out on sale.

So anyone know if these XBOX models can be easily modded ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,583 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Cheers for that TheKBizzle.. still haven't heard from them in Tesco.

Though they were manic both times I was in upstairs so it's understandable.

    I just picked up a 80GB PS3 for €299 in Nenagh.
Only a few 80GB left there.

Thank you to the original poster, muppetkiller.

The Tesco in sligo seems to be the best shop in Ireland, gets offers no other shops gets and keeps really good bargains in stock for ages, I wanna move to Sligo...

Does anyone know how much a second hand Xbox 360 goes for? If I could get about 100 quid for it I would be very tempted to try and pick up a PS3 tonight as I hate how load the fan is on the 360.

Basquille, how much are you expecting to get for your 360?

    Stalker Alert.

I was in the queue behind you (fabulous looking woman with dustpan and brush?!:D) and it was really crap service you got. She served me and plenty of others while trying to get rid of you. Mention it to the manager when you ring, she should have just got a manager for you there and then.

Were you the one I apologised to? Am sorry for holding you up!

Yeah, I had to step to the side and let her serve the queue of customers. It was the least I could do as I really didn't want to hold people up.

They still haven't rang me.. and don't expect them to!

No you didn't apologise, nor should you have, you were being served. On a day like today with these types of offers on they need more staff, and civil ones would be nice too.

    Anyway good luck with it.

I rang the Galway Tesco store and they said they've been sold out since early morning. But they said that last time about the xboxes so will pop down myself later.
Anyone check Galway in the last few hours ?

Was in tesco in wilton in cork there about 4 o clock. They have a good few 360's left but no sign of any ps3's
    Heres what they cost:

    Arcade model- 135e
Pro Model(60gb version)- 180e(Could have been 170e, cant quite remember)
Elite model(Not many left of these)- 285e

There truly was 25% all games too, though.Friend of mine got Saints Row 2 on ps3(Only out last Friday btw) and it scanned at 41.26e

Tried Stillorgan, Dundrum, Nutgrove and Rathfarnham - all 80GB PS3's sold out since early morning... darn. I wanted a 2nd one for living room as I got the 40GB on offer earlier in the year.

Wife rang Merrion, Dun Laoghaire and all sold out too.

I was gonna buy mine using the tesco money vouchers I got back on other deals - such as the Wii, DS Lite and PS3 - have been burning a hole in the wallet for months now:rolleyes:

Anyway - I reckon it will come around again soon as earlier in the year they did 25% and then week later it was 30% - just depends now if they restock PS3's in time. I will be down to Dundrum at 12:01!

Glad to see a few got them. The PS3 is a great bit of kit.
