Hi, I searched on the forum, but couldn't find what I'm interested in.
I'm looking forward in doing a course in project managemnt,
I checked at the dublin business school, it's a partime evening class, has anyone done it?
I was thinking the prince2 as an option.
Thanks in advance for your help and recommendation.

I was going to to this one with the CMI
Advanced Diploma in Project Management (ADV.DIP.PM)
    http://www.cmi-ireland.com/dipl_project_management.html

Looks okay in my opinion, PMI approved and its a feeder to the PMI 16 week course the
Project Management professional (PMP®) & Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) course

anyone done this or can recommend it ?

I did the one in DBS, it's 100% geared towards the PMP certification and it's only 6 months so it was perfect for me. Didn't find it overly taxing but the PMP exams (you have to do them seperately) were stiff enough

    Hi,

    1. Have you thought about getting the degree online?
    2. Have you thought about volunteering somewhere to get free Project Management experience?

The reason for the second question is that most (if not all) companies won't hire a Project Manager fresh from school. You have to have the experience first, and then you go to school in order to build on your experience and increase your salary.

I don't think you'll be able to apply for a PRINCE2 certificate because you have to have a previous experience in Project Management prior to applying. Same thing is for PMP (although PRINCE2 is the dominant in Europe).

I've done the part time diploma with DBS, found it very good and has helped me get a new better paid job, I'm in the IT industry.

    Well recommended.

ITB act as satellite center for UL's Diploma and Master in PM

They also offer their own evening FETAC approved course - well worth a look
Six modules, three a term, taken as you like

    Next enrollment is January (?)

I would like to do a degree to have one on my cv because I dont have one.

Is there any part time PM degree degree you can do in Dublin?

I want to be a pm and work in different sectors so dont necessarily want to do a specific degree, ie business or engineering. Ideally I would like to do a pure pm degree but dont think that is possible. Something split say three ways between IT/Finance/PM, IT and finance being areas that interest me.

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: I have done the PM course in DBS

PM course in Blanch was not run this October due to not enough people signing up... Not sure what the story for January will be. I thought the course sounded quite good.

The course in DBS was also not run due to not enough people signing up...

My last option was CMI and so far I would not recommend it... It's only 3 hours a week, so not that bad, but I find the 3 lectures quite confusing in regards to hand-outs, their "lecures/presentations" and what what they talk about will have to do with the exams...
I guess if I find that they prepare us well for the exams, I might get a bit happier about the course, but at the moment a bit dissapointed...
