Does anyone know of a means to find out the VAT number of a company?
I don't want to know if one is a false VAT number i'm pretty sure of that i just want to get the correct one and get things moving...

Ask them. If you do business with a company it should be on their invoices, for example

It has to be on the official letterhead.

Plan B is to ring in, ask for their account recieveable section and ask them directly - more like to just give it out if they think there is a cheque coming from it!

get what moving ? why do you need their VAT number, are you buying or selling.
If you know its fake just don't do business with them.

I'm right to assume the Europa site did not exist back in 2008?

It's seems so easy to do now but back in 08 obviously not. :)
