    Free fees came in during 1996 but does anyone know what it was like before that ?

    it varied by course, arts being cheaper than science being cheaper than medicine, for example.
    as I remember it cost me about 2400 to do first year in comp sci.

    there was no registration then of course, so the difference isn't all that massive.
